Do you remember how the Home Button used to have a picture of an app on it to let you know "this button goes to your apps?"

Do you remember how long that was on there?

6 years

I am amused that some people think this somewhat similar bit of design is going to be discarded after a single year. Perhaps 3, maybe? But I can't imagine it being any sooner than that.

You ARE kidding, right?

No amount of training could compensate for that...
You haven’t seen some of my clients. They’re more than trainable. I took them into a store to use Apple Pay and they love it, once I shown them how to do it right. Others when the iPhone X asked them to double click the button she did the volume button. And Apple wonders why they see low usage.

Same with other “hidden” features like Airdrop! Or Continuity because for some reason some of this doesn’t set itself up. Or SMS Forwarding.

Case in point we need the home bar.

iOS is far more user friendly than the alternative. Apple can’t send a rep to personally demonstrate every feature for every device sold. My argument was against your complaint that Apple don’t make things easy to use/learn when they do a better/more thorough job than anyone out there.

I haven’t been one of those who’s spoken out against the home bar. It fades out when it counts and the rest of the time it doesn’t get in the way of content. App devs have the choice to hide it if they wish to so it’s all just a moot point really.
