I'm going to hold off. Took my ipad 3 to the local Applestore today to compare the screens. I have what I think is a perfect cool white screen on my 3 and am really anxious that I get a screen on a new device that I like less. I can only say that in side by side comparison I like my 3 better. The Air 2's were nice and cool, but blueish (mind you I prefer blueish over yellowish). My 3 is cool white. Can't say I noticed the colours to pop more on the Air2. Also the speed while just web browsing Safari (which is really all I do on it, and some video's) wasn't that much of a difference. Not enough to justify spending 600 euro on. So I'm going to wait untill Apple releases an ipad that does splitscreen (probably the next one on iOS 9).

I got rid of my Air 1 due to freezing, apparrently from lack of RAM memory. I purchased the Air 2, and I no longer have the problem.

Apple needs to start releasing stable releases with iOS 8.1.1 so I don't have to return my iPad Air 2 that I've thoroughly enjoyed for the last month.

I have that once in a while but not very often. I use Chrome because of the retracting statusbar while scrolling. Couldn't do that in the Applestore because I wanted an comparison on the same browser and Chrome is not pre-installed on the Air 2:p.

I'm not saying I prefer my 3, the Air 2 is easily the better device. It's just that I got really lucky with the screen on my 3 and can't justify the costs for a device that is better but is basically the same old ipad.

I guess it depends if you like great value or not....

I recently grabbed a basically brand new Air 1 16gb WiFi for only $280.

With deals like that to be had its hard to even think about going with the latest model and nearly 2x the price.

For some reason I really enjoy having great devices that I ALSO got a great deal on. Makes me feel great every time I am using it.

I was able to get my air 2 for 270.88 after taxes, but that was with 2 trade ins and a 10% off coupon

Oh I understand, but that's not taking into account the money sunk into the iPad you're trading in.

The trade-ins are great deals for what they are, but if you were just starting from scratch with no iPad, it's hard to ignore the deals you can get on Air 1st Gen's right now (preowned)
