I found a black silicone case (with a circular hole cut out in the back to expose the apple) on Ebay for 1 cent plus $6 for shipping from Hong Kong. I waited three weeks for it but it arrived two days before the iPad. Perfect. It's definitely not fancy but it fits snugly and the grip assures it won't fall outta my hands.

It's temporary until I find the perfect case. But because of it there is no rush.

Are you serious? Here's some advice - get some steel wool, and rub it all over the back. Scratch it all to hell... get it over with. Come to terms with it. Then, flip the thing around, and actually use it.

haha i totally agree. I never use cases, they are such an eyesore. My iPad already has some scratches on the back, who cares? I don't use the back of it for anything, its the front screen that matters, and even scratches on the front are hard to spot unless the screen is turned off and youre holding it angled just right under a bright light. Its kinda sad some people are letting these kinds of things ruin the enjoyment of their new toy.

Fwiw, my screen has no scratches despite being in a bag with my metal keychain and keys about 3 hours per day. The screen is incredibly scratch resistant under most scenarios.

You can always get someone to airbrush the back for you and clear coat it. That will be pretty strong and scratch resistant.

I'll be airbrushing my iPad when I get mine.

Nothing is scratch resistant, is it?

I found the iPad too slick to keep a firm grip on 100% of the time, so I came up with a solution that works well.

I cut out three strips of non skid (the kind used for stairs) that are about 5"x1/8", and I affixed them about 1/4" from the sides and bottom, on the back. They provide the perfect grip!

Just sayin'.

Oh the Horror!!!!!! putting tape like that on your iPad?????? its like putting a bumper sticker on a Rolls Royce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recommend the Belkin Grip Vue that they sell at the apple store. It's clear so you can still enjoy the beauty of the iPad, but it gives it the extra grip and protection that's needed.

Same recommendation from me. I had it naked for a few weeks and now have the belkin on. Just easier to hold and I can feel comfortable about setting it down on any surface.
