is the iPad really worth it?

To me, it's definitely worth it.
I've been wanting an ebook reader any way and the iPad is about the same price as the large Kindle, but the iPad does so much more the Kindle. I also look forward to using the large touch screen for surfing, videos, and apps such as MLB.
I already have an iPod Touch, but besides music and games, the small screen isn't ideal for ebooks, surfing, etc.

I'm not much of a Mac guy, but I do like Apple's touchscreen devices.
