I finally got to the install of the 512GB 850 Pro on my test mule, used the Apples-to-Apples (pun intended…
) BM Speed app, consistent 490/520 results. Converting some BR disks, pitting it against a Mini setup identical to yours saw the conversion done in about 60% of the time in favor of the Pro. Not a measuring thing, still impressive beasts regardless of usage and habits.I opted to leave the stock 2nd 1TB spinner in the Mini even though it's SATA II and instead bought an on-sale 8TB WD easystore for DAS to be attached to my Mini. The easystore unit is on sale this week at Best Buy for $180, and I will likely buy a second - these units have WB Red drives in them and I can't even touch a bare 8TB Red for that little coin. I'll be connecting them to my Synology RT2600ac router as a NAS setup (using Synology's SW solution for this beast of a router!) - burn, backup, and backup the backup.
