is the mac mini still worth buying ?

This is all subjective and depends on your needs, describing those and what you want your computer to do, as well as the price range will be helpful in assisting you.
 
The Mac Mini just got a refresh. My parents just purchased one and it will be their first Mac. They wanted something small and powerful enough for email and web surfing. It will be perfect for their needs.
 
Got mine as my first mac and i think its great. Using it as my HTPC etc. Perfect for the sitting room.
 
It may be my future replacement for my eMac, once I have the money and a Mac notebook for some time (probably the MacBook Pro)
 
Definitely worth it. You get nearly the performance of a MBP for a fraction of the price. Its a great buy without a doubt.
 
I've just downgraded from a Mac Pro to a mini and couldn't be happier. The mini handles everything with ease and after I sell the Mac Pro I'll have lots of money and space left over.
 
not to scare anyone but I had a macmini die at me at work. Our tech guy thinks the motherboard fried or damaged and had to order another one. I hope this is not common with macmini's.
 
i guess that the price difference doesn't justify the bump from 2.26 to 2.53 Ghz ?

better choosing the 2.26 ?

I saw a reliability study on the Internet (can't remember where) which indicated that the Mac Mini is the most reliable Mac made (fewer reported problems and repairs)...by a significant margin. The methodology seemed reasonable (hundreds of responses for each model over time).
 
that's what the CMAA near my home says

during the last 5 years, the mini is the machine they almost never saw coming back for repair

The dilema that launched a thousand forum posts. If I had the money I'd always opt for the best machine I could buy. I always like future proofing my machines.

If you don't need or want the more expensive model, then get the base. Most people don't need the more expensive model. I bought the base model and am fine with it. The only thing I wanted in the more expensive model was the additional RAM. For my needs, the processor spec difference and the hard drive difference are irrelevant and will remain so in the future. By the time the processor spec becomes important to me, it will be time for a new computer with a much higher processor spec than 2.53GHz.
 
What video card version do you have if its the intel 950 720p is it i have heard the 1gig and 2-4 gig of ram models with the 9400 play it 1080 fine. Not sure as i am suppose to get my mini tomorrow

i tried on the latest mac mini at the apple store
