iPhone SE (2016) Is the main draw of the se the size or the price?

For me it's size, size and size...

I use it to text, call, take photos, listen to music/podcasts and use occasional Apps I may need on the go (Lyft, 1Password, Safari for a restaurant look up) and really thats about it.

Size/weight/form factor are *absolutely* all I care about with the SE.

I'd honestly love it to get even a touch lighter. If they made a modern iPhone 5C I'd probably be all over it. I loved the 5C and how it felt in hand with no case, etc.

I'm also ready for some more colors. I'm absolutely exhausted with white, black and the barely saturated "pink" and "gold" they offer

My ideal iPhone would be a mix of iPhone X and the actual SE :

126mm X 66mm (comfortable in hand)
5.3" - 18:9 screen (not some 19.5:9 aspect ratio that come from nowhere)
4GB of ram (Futur proofing)
64GB of storage (enough for me)
USB TYPE-C port (one can dream)
16Mpx rear camera (does NOT protrude)
8Mpx front facing camera
Face ID
Frosted glass back (as one varient of the OP6)
Design-wise, take the actual SE

Why not a budget priced SE and then a top tier SE?

That seems far-fetched. I don’t see Apple offering two versions of the iPhone SE. If they re-introduce an iPhone SE either next month or in the fall, it’s likely going to be a slightly updated SE in a tweaked form factor, there is a lot of false modesty thinking that Apple Will put in the latest technology in a smaller form factor, Apple is not going to do that, which is another reason why they have not even updated it in over two years.

If Apple were to include some of the latest technology, That would directly compete against the other iPhone models and ultimately defeat exactly what Greg Joswiak originally stated the SE was intended for in the first place during the March 2016 keynote. Which was to be “An entry-level affordable iPhone in a portable From form factor”. That’s it.

You are adamant that the SE is only here to be cheap enough for developing countries to afford it.

I actually mentioned that twice in two different post(S), which is also very true about the iPhone SE being a global phone. Apple themselves have commented on that.

But just as adamant as I am about being a Global phone, I’m also adamant being that I said this in two different posts also:

Again, it’s about the form factor. The Consumer _knows_ exactly what they’re purchasing with the SE

How many people on here would buy an SE that could run with an 8, but instead settled on an 8 because the SE isn’t updated enough, even if they would prefer it’s smaller size?

I would say if the iPhone SE Adopted some of the iPhone 8 qualities, such as the processor, resolution, camera, in the small form factor, that I think would be highly popular. But ask yourself this, why is Apple _not_updating iPhone SE?

There is a reason for that and I don’t believe the iPhone SE was ever meant to be a Phone that would be manually updated or very well could have been a limited iPhone. If the iPhone SE is updated, then I for see it being more incremental versus some of these ridiculous renders or fan made art that will never be a reality. I know I’m being a bit of a cynic here, but I think some desperately want to see the iPhone SE adopt some of the iPhone X like features, and that’s not how Apple intended this phone to begin with. And I don’t think it helps when we have all these conflicting garbage rumors of fan made art that are not real and you have others believing that it will be. There is nothing wrong with believing some of these over-blown rumors, but that doesn’t make it true either.

That is why I believe that if the iPhone SE is updated, it will be minimal. But I also willing to believe that they will not update iPhone SE this year, but they will retain it in their iPhone lineup for another year because it’s sufficient in its current state, even though it does have dated technology.

More specifically, he comments on that they received a lot of feedback that consumers that wanted a four-inch iPhone form factor in an affordable price. Also, aside from what he mentions, I also think it was Apples Ulterior motive to offer this phone as affordable as possible where they could out reach global sales. Again, even Apple themselves have commented specifically on that.

Well if you mean powerful, they can update the processor, resolution camera, but that doesn’t mean that they have to include iPhone X features and hardware specifications. But it’s also Apple, they don’t always conform to what the consumer wants. That’s blatantly obvious throughout their entire product line.

They have no problems giving us over half a dozen options, but SE owners have to make a bunch of sacrifices for that small form factor.

I think there should be a regular stripped down SE, and an SE that is on par with the regular smaller iPhone. So next year make an iPhone 9 and an SE with the same internals. Offer the bare bones SE for the most budget conscious people.
