Upstate NY . Was FL.
I just switched off wifi on the iPhone and this message appeared again. I guess it's a "character" of the xs max lol.

Yes I get that message when the phone is in airplane mode and safari is active and I stop airplane mode and WiFi quickly. It takes a second for lte to kick in and before that happens that message appears.

Well, thats a different scenario to be expected :D

I get this all the time in my XS Max, left it for 29 minutes and still saying the same. I dont suppose replacements are any better?

I have been complaining about my reception since I got the phone (and replacement). I don't know if its just luck, new towers, or something else, but my reception, particularly on voice, has gotten a bit better since the last two iOS 13 updates. Got another business trip coming, and that will be a good test.

I went from an 8 plus to an xs max and haven’t noticed any issues reception wise, seem to be about the same. It was a worry I had when I was switching over knowing it had an Intel modem that received a lot of complaints but so far so good here

I have both an XS Max and an 11 Pro Max in the house right now and they both perform the same - which is to say, they both perform very poorly with weak signals. But they are literally the same, no improvement or loss in the 11 PM vs. the XSM.

With the IUP I went from the XS Max to the 11 Pro Max and have very similar experience. Actually 11 Pro Max slightly worse. Where I volunteer it’s historically a low signal area.
Not scientific, but practical experience sending text message from the parking lot:
8 plus: 3 out of 4 went through
XS Max: 1 out of 4
11 Pro: So far 0 in all attempts
4 with bumper (the one we were holding wrong): 4 of 4 (at the time and I understand that a lot of other things could have changed)
