that can't exist... how would it get the audio to the phone without using data?
My old sony ericsson had an in built radio so I could listen to the radio without using data. The earphone leads was used as an aerial.
But the iPhone doesnt have an in built radio so you'll need to use data.
i knew what you were talking about, but obviously you didn't spend 20 seconds it takes to google the iPhone tech specs to see that it doesn't have a built in radiophilgilder.... obviously csuk83 knew what i was talking about...
i guess the iphone just doesn't have a built in radio. which i thought it did...
thanks anyways.
Lol
What kind of questions are these Chris?
Internet Radio without data?
Another doozie question before you wanted a navigation app thats free and also doesnt use data.

You cant be serious, think a little

lol, are you serious?
my old N95-8gb had a built in GPS, and for the S60 devices they have a couple FREE NAVIGATION APPLICATIONS + Maps...
and a few friends with other phones have built in Radio's that DO NOT REQUIRE DATA.
so how are my questions unreasonable?
and did i say INTERNET radio? obviously not. my clock radio at home doesn't use DATA... which in addition to my friends having free radio on their respective phones lead me to believe the iphone could do the same thing. i obviously assumed the iphone would work in the same way.. i guess that is MY mistake..
And to answer your question... "what kind of questions are these?"
these are my questions my friend.. this is a FORUM.
Whether my question is appropriate for you or not, the fact still remains i can ask it never the less.
and yes, you are right.
i was ignorant to the fact that for radio you need an independent receiver... i didn't know that.
which is why i asked. which is why i wouldn't google something like that because i didn't know how it worked.
Lol, are you serious genious?
Everyone knows that the iphone doesnt have an AM/FM radio built in.
Im sure you did also. If not you need to at least do some basic research and educate yourself to find out what you're buying before you do.
Just cause your previous phone or clock radio had a certain feature it doesnt mean that the iphone has every single feature out there included in it.
Im done replying to your questions, you are clueless.
chris001, I believe everyone is confused because you are looking for an app. That would indicate something that is not included in the base product. For example, you wouldn't go looking for a phone app for the iPhone. Of course, the iPhone can be considered to have a phone app, but you don't need to download it or purchase one to make it work.
...heck ask only iphone users.. i bet you half of them don't know the answer to that.
philgilder.... obviously csuk83 knew what i was talking about...

I'm actually cracking up at how ignorant applejuiced and some other seem in terms of a limited view of what "radio" really means. This technically can be done in the sense of what Slacker does with their own devices. They simply cache the radio stations to the device's storage for later playback. You can refresh the station (update the music) when connected via WiFi so you don't need any sort of data plan for this.
While it's not rocket science, it is something that the Slacker iPhone app doesn't do and widely speculated that it's something Apple won't allow as storing music locally might be a little too close to competing with the core iPod functionality.
I'm looking for a radio app that doesn't use data.. paid or free doesn't matter.
thanks.

Let me just point out the fact your question isn't at all stupid, these people are just a bunch of knowit all dicks!
Most smart phones actually have an fm radio chip, that companies choose not to activate.

[doublepost=1486015660][/doublepost] Many smartphones on sale today - including Apple’s iPhones, Samsung’s Galaxy phones and LG phones - come with built-in FM chips. However, nearly two thirds of these devices don't have the feature activated. What provider can switch it on for an iOS device? If Apple doesn't provide/enable it, then it's not something that is available.[doublepost=1486015660][/doublepost]
