gosh, the 2018 Pro looks great to me. I can't believe there are people who would would prefer bigger rounded corners, lol.

Anyway, good luck finding a tablet that is more gorgeous.

It's because rounded corners on the active part of the screen is nothing more than a gimmick to differentiate the current gen from the previous gen. Apple rounded it enough to "look different" but not enough to impede even more on how content is displayed.
I hate the corner round on the 2018 ipad pro's. self conscious retro design cue recalls tv's from the 50's sad
and stupid.

LOL yup ... it amazes me this discussion is so long. I'm not a fan of curved display corners but I understand and accept them. As far as how Apple did it, it kind of reminds me of the spiral curve transitions we design into turns for highway designs to provide a smoother transition from tangent to circular curve. Seems like a reasonable approach that minimizes the radius on the inside curve (to minimize impact to elements displayed on screen) without looking horrible to me.

Apple was putting rounded corners on anything they could since forever. If you don’t like them, I guess you don’t like Apple. Perfectly fine, ofc.

I love the corners, just as I like rounded corners of macOS windows compared to sharp ones in Windows.

Bigger rounded corners would look too much like a Fisher Price Tablet. Also the rounded corners came from Apples Consumer Physiology team, who convinced management that Sharp corners turn off buyers and sharp corners are seen as intimidating by focus groups give a choice of sharp corners vs Rounded corners.
No one asked for rounded Corners. It was pushed on us.
4K OLED TVs
Movie theaters.
Laptops
PC Monitors
Every device except for some cellphones and iPads have Sharp edged corners.

I like the round corners a lot.... What really makes my jaw drop is that people complain about almost everything on this forum.... It's like more then 50% of apple product owners only own them so they can complaint about it.... I think that is money not well spent, those people should better sell their stuff and move on to a happier life..... it really is not worth it... It's like marrying a woman and then complain she ain't good at anything, did you not now that before you got married ? but then again please divorce asap

Why are you ranting a strawman?

OP didn't say they didn't like the rounded corners, or the overall design (I'm sure we all love the overall look and feel).

OP noticed that the inside corner doesn't match the outside corner, provided a concept proof that corrects it, and asks 'why Apple didn't do it this way.' They aren't having a tantrum about it being perfect, they are just asking a technical question about curvature, dimension, etc. These are technical industrial-design questions, and yet people with no sense of that or background in design are taking this post as an opportunity to respond like an old grandpa. Post that sh$t in another thread where you can complain about millennials and stuff. This one was about a technical question. Stop creating strawmen arguments just to feel valid and reasonable. You aren't.

I could ask if you are feeling better and happier now but the answer is allready in your name, could we all try to be a bit more positive in life ?

Technical? Since when is subjective shape of anything a technical design. If anyone is being unreasonable it’s people that think they have the right answer above all others when it comes to shape of a curved corner. It’s called “opinion” not truth.

It's called industrial design and engineering. That's what Apple does. They create the industrial design and engineering design, and pay a Chinese manufacturer to build to spec. Did you not know this?

And that's perfectly reasonable. If people want to provide their opinion on the specific matter at hand, then that is appropriate. But ranting about "how everyone complains" is not appropriate here. That is just someone with a confirmation-bias that thinks they found the perfect opportunity to get on a soap box. Why we can't just stick to the topic at hand and share opinions even, as you state, is beyond me.

I'm glad you're on my side now. Let's stick to the technical question OP asked, and not regress the conversation into the same ol' "Everyone just complains, complains, complains" which is a negative and cynical interpretation of what OP is trying to get at. So I'm glad you won't continue down that path. Mission accomplished.
