I'll just post this again since people may have missed it the first time. I've looked up the mini PCIe cards they mention and they are indeed mini PCIe, not Apple proprietary cards.

Yes, I have ordered a couple of those and will report. I found references in one thread that claimed it needed kext edits to work but maybe that was older OS's.

The drag is they are 2/3 speed like in the MBA.

The ads for BCM94360CD call it "Mini-PCIE" but of course it isn't.

I am including a pic of standard Apple Airport card for Mac Pro and the new style.

The insanely mac post shows the adapter that we need for these, probably costs like $3 in China.

So, 2/3 speed until we find the adapter.

It looks like Amazon has the Azurewave for about $55 shipped from California.

Is this the card you are getting?

Yes, as far as I can tell, for a very similar price - I'm only really buying it as an experiment.

I don't know for certain that the Amazon seller is actually in Ca, or whether they're just saying they are (JHE Tech) - the only difference might be a slightly longer delivery time, it certainly wouldn't stop me buying from them. I think the seller I bought from was Novogood or somesuch.

I can't wait for you adventurous people to find a compatible 802.11ac wireless card for the Mac Pro 4,1 or 5,1.

I tested this card last year, wifi AC works but Bluetooth did not, apparently MacPro mini-pcie does not have access to USB, if I recall correctly. Also, wifi AC will not be enabled after sleep, you will have to reboot. I was on 10.8.5 when I tested this. I do not know when I have put the card, I rarely use wifi or bluetooth on my MP.

Please check this link, you will need to edit Info.plist on 2 kexts.

Good Luck!

I couldn't find AC card for my Mac Pro, and quite frankly the wireless on the Mac Pro is beyond useless.

Any updates on this MacVidCards?

Also and unrelated, whats one of the more powerful video cards I could get for my MacPro5,1 that has 6 connectors (preferably all mini display port, or mini display port and dual link DVI)? I saw the 290's have 4 ports, but none that have 6 :(

If its unrelated then why not create a new thread about it or send a PM rather than crap all over this thread with with irrelevant information?

My goodness. A crime against humanity. Because the person I'm asking the first question does macvid cards for a living and might be able to answer off the top of their head (that was my thought).

Had I known the forum was so touchy and compulsive I definitely would have refrained, and will in the future. I suggest you guys relax a touch, but perhaps that's off topic too.

I can source flawless cards, but they are too stinking expensive. I don't think anyone would be interested at $200, even with "no drivers needed" and full Apple OS support.

May have other options coming, not sure that there are a lot of cMP owners eager for this.

That is a touch expensive. :( If it gets even a touch cheaper, like down to 125, it probably gets to the "it's worth it, but I'm annoyed" level. :)

Does it take the Mac Pro bluetooth and wife antennae leads and use them (i.e., it has updated bluetooth too)?

Well, here is the problem. The Mini PCIE slot that Apple used in cMP isn't wired for Bluetooth. So if you use an adapter to plug an iMac AC card in, you don't get BT. And at least the iMac to PCIE slot adapter I tried, the BT worked but Wireless was MIA.

So currently no "perfect" fix for both. I don't mind as I don't use BT on cMP much. Nice to see the super high speed AC connection, but for most a better idea just to run an Ethernet cable and be done.

Thanks for the explanation. I guess that's right, you can just use the 2nd cat port and plug into an airport express i guess, or just get a USB 3 ac adapter?

When I installed the Inateck USB 3.0 Card in my 5,1 Mac Pro, the on board BT became almost useless. I rectified the situation with the Kinivo Bluetooth Dongle.

My Microsoft wireless Laser Mouse is now working perfectly.
