I can't believe it took all these posts for it to finally come to light that motion photos doesn't even have audio.

What a waste of time discussing this.

THE AUDIO IN YOUR SURROUNDINGS AT THAT MOMENT IS ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF RE-LIVING THE MOMENT!

Do I really have to explain this?

You go to a football game. The band is playing, the crowd is cheering, HOW CAN YOU DIMISS THE SOUNDS OF THAT LIVE PHOTO????

Sheesh. I'm done. Would have been done 10 posts ago if I had known.

Why are you even posting here? You had your mind made up years ago that you will only purchase Apple and are just baiting people with these nonsense posts. Glad to hear your done here.

...Take a 4 or 5 second video...if it's about "capturing the moment" in its fullness live photo is a poor substitute compared full HD video.

Also video is more easily shared.

This post was made to figure out if Samsung is any good for me and apparently it's no because there's some features lacking such as Live Photos that are missing.

Anyone who thinks motion photos, no audio and all, is a substitute is only kidding themselves at this point.

Nobody wants to watch videos of your sports games if you upload it on fb etc.

People want pictures, ideally with audio and an idea of the surrounding environment at the time.

Live Photos is the bridge between a picture and a video. It's like a picture that's come to life.

I'm glad you were able to find your answer. Enjoy your iPhone. We should be hearing about iOS 11 next month, so there's that to look forward to.

Really? So if there was never a first, how has mankind progressed? By your logic, we should still be walking around naked, living in caves.

Actually, Apple isn't always great at taking a concept and making it better. Live photos is a direct ripoff of Living Images. It isn't better, it's identical.
Apple Music and Apple Maps aren't better implementations of their Google counterparts. They are worse.

Siri is a case where Apple implemented something new to phones (albeit bought, not developed) and then let it turn into a 3rd rate also-ran piece of software. Siri is usually the butt of jokes now.

So tell me Sherlock, how are people emotionally involved with any of Apple's implementations listed here? I guess if your narrative is to love anything with the letter "i" in front of it, then you'll find anything Apple does as 'magical'. There is no debating with people like this.

Ok, take the laptop. Was the screen on a computer the first ever screen? No there were TV's/monitors. Was the keyboard the first ever keyboard. No the typewriter and other wired keyboards precede it. Processor? Nope. Speakers. Nawww.. if you want me to continue and draw some diagrams then maybe I will. Mankind progresses through evolution. Evolution is the passing of the great of a generation and leaving behind the unuseful. Get it
And of course there was a "first" but that "first" was preceded by other trial and errors and improvements on old tech. By yours and the narratives logic we should focus on the fact we used bone tools and that any subsequent iterations were meaningless. Good mindset for you and your friends but an idiotic one at best.

Opinions, opinions. Clearly the OP likes force touch and Live Photos. I got curios about LP myself as I rarely take photos nowadays. There is something interesting about apples implementation. Force touch let's you control the scene when you want it, easily. Nokia implementation was ok but it seems like Apple uses some effect on LP. You're trying to justify your purchase by insulting his opinion. Bravo!

I used Spotify and have loved Apple Music more. It's seamless and integrates with my old music. Apple maps has had rough a rough start and after the initial release it has become a great alternative. So much so that I've gotten errors on GMaps that I don't On AMaps. Also, I don't get weird ads on AMaps and I much prefer the UI on AMaps. Cleaner navigation and less bloat in the way. So clearly you never used them or they don't work for you. Fine either way, but why bring these up when a guy makes a legitimate claim about Androids limitations?

Siri - I've had my issue with all of the assistants I've used. Samsungs being the least useful and problematic. The thing about Googles version is that it clearly does do more web searching as opposed to humanizing the experience. I'm not a robot and have gotten Siri to be more consistent the few times ove used her (not to mention the tight integration on the iPhone) so I stuck with her.

You obviously have not used Google's latest, Assistant, or have not used it much. It is more personable than Siri--and I do have and use the latest versions of both (and use at least one multiple times a day). Without a doubt, Siri is the one who will reach for a web search first.

Even with the "fun" things that once made Siri seem more human, such as "tell me a joke," Google's Assistant is now much more personable--where it once had no personality at all. Heck, you can ask it to play a game and it will create a trivia game for one or more people, all using back and forth voice exchange and recognition.

Just got these results.

The "new music" search was me saying resume music. I'm impressed it got better but not there yet. When it did understand me it did resume the song playing.

Pretty dumb choice to send LP considering 5/6 of all the world's phone users can't see/use it.

Worth noting live photos don't always work when shared even among other iPhones. Video doesn't have this problem. And motion photo is video so it always works

It's literally like a video a few seconds before you snap the photo. Are you kidding me? It's like a knockoff.

Like the rest of android, cheap geeky half-assed knockoff. No wonder theres virtually no competition for apple
[doublepost=1494923937][/doublepost]
You probably should. It helps in cases like this, so you have the intelligence to know that Apple did little more than steal/copy Live Photos direct from Lumia phones. Is it "magical" when you copy someone else's product?

I do find it funny that your only comeback (once finding out that your 'magical' Live Photos that you 'thought' Apple created) is to put down the company that actually invented it. Next time you think Apple invented something and you believe it's "magical", you might want to do some research. Chances are, you'll find out Apple copied it from someone. In other words, Apple is the knockoff.

And for the record, this is what you posted previously:
You're just not picky enough.

And most of the 5/6 can't agree on any one standard on anything. At least the 1/6 has a solid supported standard in all flagships going forward.

Seems about an equivalent of a statement to what side of he road do you drive on and do you care you're opposite to a lot of the world?

No, because you take pictures to share them. What does driving have to do with it?

Wow what a thread... laughing my ass off every time @Michael Goff said jank. I like live photos ... I've got a photo of my wife smiling at me as my wallpaper and I can press/hold at the lock screen to get the live photo effect. Kinda nice when on a long overseas trip.

That said, I find them a bit of a liability if I send them via iMessage because my wife and I may be talking while talking photos or ... I had one where I burped while taking a photo - that was very audible since the phone was near my face. So I have to be careful.

Right now iCloud Photos and Google Photos are the only 2 apps that actually save the live photo portion, right?

I don't use them often but I like them (live photos).

I don't have any issues sharing Live Photos with who is interested in seeing them regardless of the market share of the devices as the op was trying to frame.

The issue the person was bringing up wasn't device market share but the fact that to most people it's just a picture since they can't see it. That's good for people who only surround themselves with iPhone users, though.

I do t know what you mean "surround themselves..." sounds pejorative. I don't surround myself with any phone user. It just so happens with a few exceptions, my extended family about 50, friends, business associates and clients all have iPhones.
