Tried buying a set of the new AirPods Max at Apple.com. Any and all colors shipping in 14 weeks. Mid March!!

How is this possible? Missing the Christmas season? Nice job Apple.

That's why it's priced so high. They are already selling out everything they could produce anyway.

Still better than the situation with ps5

Well there are supply chain issues due to, you know, a global pandemic.

I'd wager that Apple underestimated demand else they would have held off the announcement. Every delayed shipment risk loss of sale for someone who needs a set of headphones right now and will have to get a XM4 or Bose instead.

i grew up with kids who save all their lunch money and wait in line for that new pair of jordans growing up. ofcourse there are gonna be handful of idiots dumb enough to buy it ?

Yep. Apple only produced a small amount, creating fake hype. You are totally spot on.

Everyone will own a pair of these. People were saying the same thing about AirPods when they came out and they took over. When you compare prices for the tech, styling, and what's offered. They are priced pretty well. If you want to compare them to Sony, then you have no idea what people will pay for in style and brand.

They haven’t missed the Christmas season, you have ;) ..... clearly they have sold everything destined for the US market before Christmas ..... Not unlike many popular products at this time of year, I seem to remember searching the shops of London when my kids were small for whatever was the popular toy that year .... So nothing new with what’s happened to Apple.

What did you expect ? .... they keep a pair held back just in case you decided to order them ? :)

I don’t think Apple produced a small number to intentionally create shipping delays. Either there are supply constraints or they’re being cautious to get a feel for what demand might be. Will these be more like AirPods or the HomePod? If I was in the market I wouldn’t place an order until there were reviews from people who review high quality headphones on a regular basis.

Disagree. Everyone doesn’t own a HomePod. My guess is the percentage of headphone wearers that own $500+ headphones is quite small. Not every Apple product has to be a mega seller. The iPod really took of when the cheaper mini and then Nano came out. These could take off if Apple releases a cheaper model in a few years.

Hard to say. I travel internationally for work. Airpods and expensive bose headphones are ubiquitous among frequent travelers. I definitely think that crowd will buy many of these. I'm waiting for reviews to decide. Honestly it would have to provide phenomenal ANC, music and sound quality for me to switch from my current bose pair... but anything is possible.

$1200 plus cellphones, $1000 plus laptops, $250 in ear headphones, $500 plus watches, over prices accessories. People buy them and they will buy these. I see $400 beats headphones everywhere.

I paid $174.99 for my Studio 3 Beats headphones. No way could I personally justify $500 headphones. My 53 year old ears can't tell the difference between good sound and not so good sound anymore. :(

I hope this is a joke. I ordered from Apple yesterday and it shows March delivery date. I hope it arrives sooner.

I looked very early and only saw the black and silver available with a set ship date. The other colors always showed 12-14 weeks. Either they made very few of the pastel colors, or none. Review I saw saying the blue, green, red must be the most popular colors I think was wrong.
I assume a large number of those actually sold are for testing or reselling. New Apple products in short supply always boost the reseller market. Not sure about $550 headphones but the Airpods Pro at $250 are not cheap and they sold pretty good too.

is that what you said too when homepods came out? ?

i will never own these, spending 550 for a pair of perishable headphone that will go south when the battery can't hold a decent charge is laughable, normal airpods are semi affordable, they range from 90-150, the pro you can get for 160ish, but going into the 500+ range? I better hear god when i put them on ?

If they are really not shipping more til March resellers will make a bundle. A large amount of these will be resold imo. It's rare Apple marketing to offer a brand new item, limited quantities right before a big holiday. I think they are recalling the $350 Homepod and testing the waters and using the fanbase.

Came here just to say your comment is ridiculous. It was delivering next week for those who ordered when pre-orders opened. Just like any product, if you snooze you (may) loose. They can only make so many, especially considering we are in a pandemic, and once that stock is gone, dates get pushed back. Not sure what you are complaining about. Try your luck with in-store stock or at a 3rd party?
