I live about 30 miles outside of atlanta adn i get full bars 3G at about 1900-2200 Kbps speed. Is this relatively fast or slow and why don't i get closer to 3.6 mbps as advertised?

wow never realize atlanta had the best att coverage then again, i read they are headquartered here..i think they will be doing 7.2 mbps here first....but wow 500 kbs is slow....i load up sites in like 3-7 seconds...its seem just as fast as wifi speeds...ill load up a picture.

I was way upstate in Rochester a few weeks ago and was getting 2300 kbps+. Seems the problem is how congested the network is in New York. May be the one perk of living in Bumblef**k USA ;)

Wow 2300+ must be extremely fast... i was surprised at my speed but living 30 miles from atlanta..im skeptical about if i actually had fast speed maybe cuz not many ppl use 3G where i live which makes it extremely fast..idk. =)

Yeah. That's very good.

Traveling the US last year I found 1,200 to be a pretty good 'normal' speed. (With a range of 400 - 1,600.)

Over the last few months it's gotten worse and I've found that 600 or 700 is more the norm wherever I go.

...just wait for the speed we will have when the iPhone comes from Verizon ;)

Another Verizon allusion? You know, Verizon's network is not magical. If were to have the entire iPhone population I assure you that just how AT&T's network is taking the beating, so would have Verizon's.

AT&T did great with the first iPhone as the network structure could easily handle it since it was well developed. However, 3G network was relatively new and was still being deployed. AT&T is learning as they go. They learned from their first 3G iPhone and are fixing those areas. Better backhaul's, more cell tower lines and more cell tower sites.

Verizon would have performed no better.

Yes, very fast. In the US you get anything from 500Kb/s to 1.8Mb/s

I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA about 30 miles from the downtown area and i get 1900-2300 kbps so USd is capable of about 2600 kbps...

I practically live in the middle of a corn field here in Indiana and I get 1.2MB down. If that makes you New Yorkers feel better. :p

what the hell! im getting super slow speeds since i got my iphone 3gs

should i call At&t? why should i pay $30 for Super slow internet? maybe i could get them to lower my rate (;

Here is what I'm getting in Paris, France
