Last night unplugged the phone from fully charge (100%) at about 11pm. But at about 11am next morning I checked and the battery was at 67%. all night it was on standby didn't event touch it after unplugging it.

1/ Is this normal, or anybody had this issue?
2/ Could this be because of my jailbreak? only have 3 thing installed from cydia.
3/ Any way to improve this battery life?

thnaks.

While the battery does go down on Standby not that much. Does sound like some process is consuming something.

One of the many reasons I quited the jailbreak scene was because of battery life, some people never have trouble but I always did.

As an experiment you could try disabling some location services to see if that improves. If not their might be some cydia app to see what consuming the power.

My 4s JB on 5.1.1 behaves the same way. I leave it on my nightstand over night. When i wake up 6-7 hrs later, it goes from 100% to about 56-60%. I personally believe I have a corrupt backup file that is causing my poor battery life.

I have tried every tip and trick out there. Ive grown to accept it and I carry a cable with me everywhere i go

Yeah, my 4S does the same thing. I have to charge it multiple times a day. I've also tried everything. I think it's just time to accept that these phones have terrible battery life.

I understand that I'm not going to see the same 3 days of battery life I got with my BlackBerry in 2006, but I'd like to see at least 1 day...

edit: I should mention I'm not jailbroken.

I've been Jailbreaking for about 4 years now on and off mostly on. I see very little battery life difference between my Jb phone and when it's not. I'd say I get battery battery life jb because I have more control over my I device. People Just want to jump into Jailbreaking and then blame it because they don't really understand it. If you really think it's the jailbreak restore as new and see if it fixes it then add one on JB item at a time.

While it should be that bad the 4s is not really a big performer when it comes to battery life. The a5 chip is very power hungry. The CDMA variants are even worse.

You guys are actually lucky.

My standby time is even worse. If I let my phone sit for 20 minutes, I lose about 10-15% battery. If I'm using the phone, it's ridiculous. I lose 1% every 45 seconds. My phone gets incredibly hot after just a couple minutes of usage as well. (on several occasions I've received the "temperature" emergency screen. "iPhone needs to cool off before continuing use" which means it got too hot from the defective battery)

I have experienced this non jailbroken on 5.01, 5.1.1, and 6.0 and I have also experienced this jailbroken on 5.0.1 and 5.1.1

I have visited several apple stores and have been told this is "completely normal". I've been told to "never return" to one of the Apple stores in NC. I've also been told "if I cause another disturbance, I won't be allowed back in" in the store near me in Pennsylvania.

I don't consider it "causing a disturbance" if I KNOW for a fact that it's a defective battery, and they blatenly refuse to fix an issue with hardware that's covered under warranty.

I just wish for once my 4S would work properly. I know I'm not going to get 2 days on a charge, but I would like to go longer than 3 hours without having to charge my phone...

My standby time over night might be about 2% of the battery, so it's not noticeable. When I first got it I had that issue but after tinkering with my system settings and making sure I didn't have any widgets that searched for info all the time all is good.

I tend to think it's location services or fetching of data. So play with settings each day until you find the right one. I don't think it's the jailbreak, not saying it can't be one of the tweaks but probable not, I have a lot of tweaks installed.

A defective battery on an iPhone is so rare that it's basically none. There are so many things that can drastically affect your battery life like this. And if you've been to Apple this many times and they keep telling you the same thing, I'd stop it with the jailbreaking. It does void the warranty. So even by them finding out or seeing that you have jailbroken your iPhone, they would flag it in their system as such and you would no longer qualify for any service done under the limited warranty.

Apple's Genius really do know what they are doing, and they can tell almost always when a device has been jailbroken. And one of the reason why a jailbreak voids the warranty is that it can physically damage internal components as they are not regulated by iOS to make sure as to not overuse any internal components.

There's a very high chance that your jailbreak has done something to drastically affect the performance of your iPhone, but more than likely there's just a software problem that would be fixed by a Clean Restore. I'm sure Apple has had you try this a number of times, and they can also very easily tell if you have or have not done this. If you have not and still keep on going to the Apple store complaining about this I wouldn't blame them for getting more than annoyed with you.

Try this, Charge your battery to full to 100%. And then when you go to sleep, turn on airplane mode. If the battery goes to below 99% in the morning, then your battery is faulty and you should buy a new battery. But if not, then :
1. The problem lies on the system, download apps that can check your processor load, memory load and process on the background.
2. Your network provider doesn't have good 3G signal on your area, that means your 4s receiver and processor is doing more load to get good 3G reception.

I have tried this myself, i tested it for almost 18 hours and the damn battery is still at 100%. I thought the battery was faulty before i tried this. I tested with airplane mode on, siri is still on, GPS stuffs is still partly on. But mostly the phone was in standby, i didn't do anything while i was testing, the total usage was just 30 minutes for checking the usage time, and it was still 100%.

All in all, i think the receiver antenna or network hardware design is still not that strong and effective on the 4s.

So, i suggest, control your apps and 3G reception. Or even better, buy battery case if you don't want to worry about your battery. But checking your processor load on apps and memory is a must, so your 4s won't get too hot and your battery drain will be even worse.

Literally nothing you have just said is or can be backed up with actual facts...

I really hate how people here AUTOMATICALLY assume it's a jailbreak and jump down your throat for it. The act of jailbreaking the phone cannot damage the device. What damages it, are stupid people downloading 150 tweaks from cydia that conflict with each other. If you know what you're doing, you won't damage your device with a jailbreak. I've jailbroken countless phones. Including every iPhone I've owned, and not once have I had a problem. This is a hardware issue. Not software.

That being said. I've been experiencing this since 10/14/11 when I got the phone. STOCK 5.0.1, 5.1.1 and 6.0 all have the same issues. There was no jailbreak until February 2012 for the 4S. So the first 4 months of battery issues would be IMPOSSIBLE to blame on a jailbreak.

I have tried DFU restore to 5.0.1, 5.1.1 and 6.0. In fact, I just did a fresh DFU to 6.0 2 days ago. Still having issues, again. Its obviously a hardware issue considering I've done everything they say for software.

Apple geniuses cannot tell it has been jailbroken if you DFU restore and setup as new phone. And that's besides the point. I don't hide the fact that I've jailbroken. And the only reason it voids warranty is because it allows for customization that apple doesn't allow from factory. Again, the act of jailbreaking the phone can't damage internal hardware. Overloading tweaks and apps from Cydia on the phone is what damages the phone, which again wouldn't happen if you know what you're doing.

Again, the jailbreak did not "drastically affect the performance". It's not software related.

Before you jump down my throat and act like I'm just some stupid kid who got his first iPhone a week ago who doesn't know anything, ask some questions and don't treat me like an idiot.

Thank you. At least I'm not the only person who sees how ridiculous that comment was.

Mine might go down 5% over night, and I am jailbroken.

It's most likely that you have many apps open and don't close out of them.

I use iCloud, ect., so that's not the issue.

I miss the vote down button! jefbond with all that talk you are all wrong. I hate to tell you some genus jb as well. Any way you go ahead and believe what you want. Just don't ask others to drink Kool-Aid with you. I love jb haters pop in this section.

Hey, want to apologize for threadjacking. Wasn't my intention, but I'm not going to let someone talk down to me for no reason. Especially when they know NOTHING about anything they're talking about.

I do wish there was a vote down button lmao.

Have you found a solution yet?

So what you're saying is, if you don't know what you're doing, you CAN damage the internals by jailbreaking? :p

No you can't. "Touching" the hardware on an iPhone (i.e. overclocking) isn't possible, and you never see or hear of it being done. Jailbreaking strictly modifies the software.

Maybe if you change the baseband you can fry the cellular radio, but that isn't from jailbreaking.

Shhh they were making a joke :p:D

I'm normally not one to tell people to go to wiki but in this case the Jailnreak wiki is a good read. some of it abet complicated or some might say boring. but i's recommend reading it to at least get some understanding of what it is and what does it do.

But then who would troll the forums re-posting the same questions on a daily basis?

No worries there will never be a shortage of people that refuse to learn on there own, or search! ;)

I agree !

1) There are a surprising number of people who seem unable to grasp the concept that they too can use Google and use it for free.

2) That the need to be spoon fed is not an admirable quality.

3) That reading a few existing threads or browsing a few tutorials on iClarified.com really can be helpful.

/Rant complete

lets not forget way faster!!! but your right the ranting done! because before we know it we will see, I bricked my ***** and I accidently upgraded or deleted blah blah blah..
