So I'm waiting with baited breath to hear the punchline. Why exactly did you create this thread? What's the reveal?

While the replies have been interesting reading, I'm not seeing the point. Like anything on the internet, I'd take all of these replies with a healthy grain of salt if your question has any real (i.e. legal) significance. I'd also take them with a grain of salt if the question is the equivalent of a bar bet. Not saying the comments aren't correct, but really?

Random people you don't know with unknown expertise made random comments about a crappy photo.

Why would you assign any value to the comments in this thread? Again, what is the point of this thread? What is your real question?

It's impossible to tell of course. There's heaps of way to alter photos and hide the evidence, super easy in low grade images like this one. Digital analysis doesn't help you can just print and scan to hide that stuff.

Ok, now I'm curious AF... was there something in particular you noticed or know of this picture? What, exactly, prompted this question/thread? Tell us!!

The uniform Gaussian noise is slightly suspect but it could simply be a bad scan of an old image which has been re-compressed too many times. I've done a lot of Photoshopping and don't really believe there's an optical equivalent to perfect pitch.

Can we start making a case for why it should be photoshopped? :)
Sorry guys. I couldn't resist.
