Is this the 2020 iMac?

I noticed on of the images on Apple's new iMac site showing an image of the 2019 iMac with about half the size bezel we have currently.

Perhaps it's just the angle and I need better glasses?

Even eith that angle the top bezel is definitely smaller so bt symmetry i agree they are smaller...but why Apple show this?! An int leak/mistake from them?

Apparently, it was not!
I am so, so disappointed with Apple for not trying hard enough! They are keeping a severely outdated design afloat. It basically came out in 2006 and has not been updated since 2012. And this is not all abut aesthetics, but also about footprint on the table.

It communicates a message of neglect towards the mac lineup. This would of course never had happened in the iPhone lineup.

They really, really should have refreshed the design, updated the ports, and included TrueTone.

What is going on?

I agree, this is bad. Even years ago we were confused how they haven't updated the chassis for this thing.

The current iMac is basically bezel-less its almost unnoticeable unless you go looking for it.
And the incredible design is lusted over which is why it still appears in so many TV's and movies.

if the current imac is basically bezel-less..than how its the current iphone/ipad pro, or even macbooks that you can fit 2 bezels bars from an Macbook into the imac bezels and still you get free bezel free
Are you Tim? or design lazy's team?

I prefer the current design language, thinner bezel isn't the best way to go on a desktop. We have many newer DELL monitors here and the bezel-less design is off-putting. I do wish they change the port design for easy access from the front.

Either it is an Asian-only model or the other images are wrong (as they're computer renders). We'll see when it's out
 
OMG I can't believe they have this image actually on the iMac page, feels like a conspiracy theory, or are they literally laughing at us, I hope youtubers gonna go savage reviewing this update (which would be fine year ago, if that's all, if all the campus are 8th gen and just the top one 9th gen, GPUs exactly same, navi is around the corner, what's the reason for a year delay, I just can't even)

The review in Gizmodo says much the same thing. Apple stuff new components into an old design then claim it to be state of the art? At best it's lazy.
 
Stop being so hung up on bezels!!! Funnily enough, when using the machine, you barely notice them. And if you've got a dark background behind the Mac, you don't even see them! Why is a piece of Mac you never use so important to you?

Has anyone tried to reproduce this image? Anyway, I think only Apple's high volume products get the cool stuff.

The current iMac has a fairly thick black border. That black border is called a 'bezel'. The last time I measured the bezel on a current iMac it was around 2.7 centimeters (more than an inch) thick. And that excludes the 'chin'. Calling that 'basically bezel-less' is a figment of your imagination. Even when I don't look for it the bezel can't be unseen.

There is also a phenomenon called 'product placement'. It is a form of advertisement. That's the reason why Apple products appear in TV series and movies. It has more to do with paying enough than with an 'incredible lusted over design'. How did you even devise such a term? It associates more with a description of a sex toy in a sleazy porn add than a computer designed by Apple.

If you watch closely there are TV-series and movies with Microsoft Surface products too. That is also because Microsoft pays them. The same as Apple does. The same goes for car brands, kitchen appliances, Subway sandwiches, McDonalds hamburgers, Philips Hue lights, Ikea furniture etc. Believe me that's not for their 'incredible lusted over design' but it has simply to do with cold hard cash (preferably lots of it).

But seriously, are you really believing what you post, even if it is verifiably and objectively incorrect?

I honestly never saw any bezel because my full attention was always drawn to that big beautiful 5k Retina display displaying my content in all its glory. I say was because I'm basically all in on the iPad Pro lifestyle now. iPad Pro is the future of Mac.

If I didn't believe what I said I wouldn't waste my time posting the comment. You're allowed to disagree with me of course, and I certainly don't expect everyone to see things my way. It should be possible to remain respectful though.

First of all: I never was disrespectful.
Direct: yes. Blunt: probably. Disrespectful: no. I never was personal and I never called you names.

Second: Here I seriously rest my case. If you deny seeing bezels on an iMac and you truly believe the myth that Apple never paid for product placement then I don't want to burst your bubble. You will never believe me anyway and it is fruitless to try to convince you otherwise.

They must have produced so many iMac casings back in 2005 that they still have stock today. Only explanation I have for those massive bezels.

Good ole Apple hardware.

EIZO EV2785 and EV3285 show how quality monitors look in 2019.
