Dear friends,
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) upgraded at Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite with 2.6GHz (Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz).
Is Turbo Boost already activated?

In other words, I want to overclock my MacBook Pro.

Turbo boost is part of normal functionality of your laptop and its always activated. There is no straightforward way to overclock your laptop.

What does Turbo Boost mean? In my opinion, and for this reason maybe I am wrong, Turbo Boost is a way to overclock.

Can Apple devices (like my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 6 Plus) be overclocked like Android devices or it is not possible, even with Jailbreak?

Nope. Turbo Boost allows the CPU to perform at a higher clock rate when only one core is in use.
So in my MacBook Pro and in my iPhone 6 Plus I do not have to do anything. In other words, overclock is not possible (even with Jailbreak). Am I wrong?

It's to do with BIOS settings

There is no such thing as jailbreak on a mac, there may be a hack for the app store but thats not the same thing and also illegal.

In theory if you know what you are doing you may be able to overclock the CPU, this will require some serious understanding of what you are doing if you don't want to ruin your very expensive laptop. Not to be reccomended, if you mange it without ruining your software and firmware you risk seriously overheating.

Turbo boost works automatically and is explained here

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/forced-induction-intel-turbo-boost-works-technology-explained/

Iphones use arm architecture and as far as I know overclocking is impossible as they are designed to work within specific low temperature profiles (TDP)

Turbo Boost does, in fact, "overclock" your processor.
It is NOT manually switchable by the user - but is automatic on demand, when system conditions warrant that mode.
Here's a fairly complete thread discussing that: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1578921/
Thank you!

Essentially, that is correct. Why would you want to overlock your phone anyway? It's already dissipating a large amount of heat from a very small space.

Anyway, Turbo Boost kicks in automatically when needed on your Mac... which truthfully, isn't very often.

I am Italian, I am 19 years old and it is almost impossible for me to write in your language and to understand your replies. Be patient, please!

essentially - used to emphasize the basic, fundamental, or intrinsic nature of a person, thing, or situation

Translation

essentially - essenzialmente

essenzialmente - essentially, basically

Thank you! So the word essentially has the purpose to synthesize.

Let's try a different approach ;)

Why do you want to overlock your computer?

Turbo Boost only applies to intel processors. Your iPhone has an ARM processor which uses a totally different set of instructions and has nothing whatsoever to do with turbo boost.

Neither your iPhone nor your Mac are overclockable, and honestly, why overclock a phone? What do you do on your phone that would warrant more power than it already has?

I would like to make the most of their power.
