iPad was at 100% yesterday at 9AM. Battery level right now at 3:41 PM is 54%. I have push email on my wifi only ipad all the time. Played over an hour of Brothers in Arms HD today (as its only $.99 so I bought it). Did over 5 hours of internet browsing on and off.

If I'm just using it for reading, web browsing, mail, way over 10. It seems like I go days and days without recharging. Only if I'm doing heavy gaming (Ok, if my wife steals it to play Plants v Zombies for hours on end) that I get less than 10.

My son makes me play Plants vs. Zombies all the time so he can watch and root for the zombies to eat my brains. :)

I got my iPad on release day, still use it regularly and still get 10+ hours of use on a single charge.

I easily get 10 plus hours from my iPad. I charge it every night and abuse it every day. My iPad is not jail broken. I have jolt battery for use if I need to push past 10 hours.

i get this feeling that after jailbreaking, your iPad will not have the battery life it once did when it was a Virgin.

that being said, restoring to un-jb status does not fix the issue. Could it be a permanent issue?

I have had the 3G since release day and lately I've been noticing battery issues. In the last two weeks I've noticed the battery draining unusually fast. WiFi is on. 3G is never on (never even activated). A couple of days ago I was reading and I checked the battery level every 10 minutes and it was dropping several percentage points every 10 minutes to the point that when I was done reading I was down >25%. This has been happening a lot. I will check it at work (not used at all) and recheck an hour later and it's down another 8-10%.

I'm assuming that I probably need to recalibrate the battery level in the iPad to get it back on track.

is your iPad jailbroken?

are you running push notification?

what are your brightness levels?

No

Yes (Gmail) but I have all along and I didn't have this level of drain previous to the last two weeks.

Auto-level. Keep in mind that it was happening when the iPad wasn't being used at all and just checked every hour for level.

I wouldn't know why. Could be because of a particular app that was running. I've noticed that even though i close out apps, there could be some memory leaking going on. I would do a hard reset on the device, and delete some apps. Surprised that its draining even without jailbreaking. My best guess would be that it has to do with some apps thats drawing a lot of power.

Since I started playing online games, my battery life goes down a lot faster. I'd say it goes down like 15% every hour. When I don't play the online games, it is anywhere from 7-10% per hour depending on what I'm doing. I've only had the iPad for a month.

Brightness maxed out.
3G, wifi and Bluetooth on.
Email checking every 15 minutes.
Non stop use all day everyday.

I certainly get over 10 hours usage still however i am draining it about three times every two days.

I think a lot of people will feel like it is going quicker because they are used to it now and will also have the iPad doing a lot more in the background. Such as email.

When I first got this I was shocked at how long it lasted, now it is what I expect from it.

When I use ISM (watching 30-40 stocks) with 3G on, the battery meter will drop like a rock. I am lucky if I can get 4-5 hours out of it.

It lasts more than the 10 hours with only casual usage.

Out of curiousity if your iPad is still lasting 10 hours...I remember at first it would take forever for 100% to trickle down to 90%, but now it seems my iPad goes down from 35% to 9% in less than 2 hours...
Iono..
..Iono.
I still get upwards of 12 hrs on mine before it gets below 10%, Ive had it 6 wks now. I don't know if it matters much but my brightness is set real low, almost to off. It's still plenty bright for daytime or (like now) in a dark bedroom.

My iPad still lasts very close to, if not exactly 10 hours.

Has your iPad been exposed to extreme temperatures, like being left in a car on a hot day or a cold winter day (if you're in the southern hemi)? Temperature extremes can kill battery longevity.

When I read this post I cringed.

I unfortunately have left it in my car numerous times under a hot summers day. Not on a car seat exposed directly to the sun, but always stowed away..still very hot when I get in the car.

Perhaps this also explains the reason why my mid-2009 MBP doesnt last 7 hours anymore and lasts closer to 3hrs.

10 hours and more. Gets used at least 10 hours a day.

I suggest the OP revives this thread after 6 months, then a year, for better results.

Unless Apple invented a new kind of battery, I doubt it will start to deteriorate faster than those in other gadgets.

I just did 9 hours of constant use on 3g yesterday and brought the battery down to 2%.
