I really want the phone to wow us. But I don't think it will. Money for a new phone is not a problem.

I may get the S8 in 2017 if the 3.5" jack is removed...really have to see. I'm technically on a 2 yr plan, but adding a second phone to the mix (esp. if it were OLED) is a very attractive option.

I have plenty of options as I'm not vested in the Apple ecosystem.

Windows for computer/laptop, music I rip from my vast CD collection and put on my 5th gen Nano (and eventually my phone), and iPad content (books, movies, etc...all thru Amazon) is side loaded via iTunes (which I abhor).

An easy decision to pass on another dull iPhone

Better Choice:

Note 7 on pre-order.

Gorgeous 5.7" hi-res display
Much smaller and stylish than iPhone
Lighter with comfortable ergonomics
Greater functionality
Thin sleek bezels
Wonderful stylus
Better off buying a Note 5. It does the same things or a Note 4. Too bad the 7 is running a slow processor. The 820 is not exactly fast and is slowed even more down by Touchpuzz.

Money is not an issue to me. If I want it I can buy it. Do not expect the 7 to blow the doors off of the 6 but I will likely get it when introduced and pass my 6S+ to a family member or friend.

I do think that the 8 will be a major leap but by the time it gets here the other phone makers will have eclipsed many of the new features and many here will of course be disappointed.

Android and the Note 7, what ever that is, is not even a consideration as I am all to happy living inside the Apple system.

iPhone users have some very skewed perceptions of competing devices, and I say that as a 5+ year iPhone user!

The Note 7 looks fantastic, and honestly, I think the Galaxy S/Note series may beat the iPhones this year. Yes, Android has its flaws and weaknesses (as does iOS), but if you think that these phones are slow, likely to be compromised (unless you're stupid and download sketchy software from sketchy sources), or that they only work well for a year, you really need to stop listening to the fanboy propaganda.

I love iPhones as much as the next person, but Apple does not make the only high quality smartphones anymore, and it's in fact very debatable and subjective whether they make the best. There are really good alternatives if you actually try them.

Generalize much?

I do agree with the touchwiz hate, it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.

Android devices get updates. The core apps and many of the services get updates through the play store instead of being of dependent on OS updates. Honestly I like this method.

iOS devices have security holes too, but to be honest I haven't really run into this issue on the android devices I've used. Same with windows. Straw man argument I guess?

There are folks who believe the same thing about Apple device quality. I dunno. My HTC One was a very solid device. The MotoX my son had was also reliable until he launched it at the sidewalk. My family has Samsung devices and they've had less trouble than some of my friends with iPhones. I know this is all anecdotal evidence, but it wouldn't make sense for Samsung(or any manufacturer) to build devices that didn't last. Their customers would eventually all go away.

I'm torn between the next iphone(or the one after that) and an android device. For the time being, my 6+ is a damn nice phone and I'm really enjoying iOS 10.

I'm in a similar situation.

By choice, my primary smartphone is a Nexus 6P and my secondary is an iPhone 6S Plus. Admittedly I'm a smartphone addict with several active lines and a variety of phones just for the experience. Working in a Windows/ Mac/ Android/ iOS/ environment simply adds to the cross platform fun. Yet if not for work I might not have anything to do with iOS.

Years as a very satisfied Mac user keep me interested in Apple, but highly disappointed in how they've coasted while hyper focused on profit taking off their loyal iPhone buyers. I _know_ what Apple is capable of, and the current 6S series is most certainly not... Their best work.

I'd truly like an iPhone to be as fun, fast, reliable and capable as my favorite Nexus is, but it's just not. And that's why I'm closer than ever to walking away from Apple. After being patient waiting for them to finally offer a smartphone with a spacious display, instead of the diminutive 4" iPhone, they've still got catching up to do.

A huge slab of a smartphone with an old fashioned mechanical home button is just laughable. Hello Apple... Anybody Home?
They will, change it once their new screen maker fixes the burn in issues with AMOled screens.

i have owned both the s6 and s7 and yes they are slower then any other phone out there. Just because you are blinded by shiny and flashy doesn't mean they are good. They would be good if they weren't ruined by the OS for dummies I.e. Touhwizz. It needs much more RAM then the phones have actually astounded they didn't up it to 6 or ship a better chip with the 7. much better Android manufacturers then Samedung.

I bought Galaxy S7 edge, but had no time to transfer my staff there April-July were very busy for me.
I played with Galaxy and really liked the phone. I've had every iphone model since i3, every ipad model, but not any longer . They should give something new, special to keep me. Or, may be bring money back home from offshores :)

Well once my iPhone 6 Plus is sold then yes my money is ready for the iPhone 7. Even thought the iPhone 7 is not much of a upgrade just having more ram in the phone so that it does not reboot on its own due to not having enough ram is good enough for me.

No. I currently have a Moto X as my work phone and a 6s plus as my own personal phone. If I replace my iPhone, both devices would be android and I would effectively have left iOS completely since I don't own an iPad.
Ew don't do that lol

iPhone 7 plus for me. Had Galaxy S 1, 3 and Note 4 now its time for a change to Apple!
Smart choice lol

Android user for seven years and I can tell you it has gotten better but at thre same time it still isn't better. It's like being 500 pounds and I lost 150 pounds. I'm happy to have lost weight but I'm still overweight in the end.

I find the iPhone to be one of the better made phones and this is coming from someone who is a fan of polycarbonate in my lumia 950 xl. However what no android device even nexus can't touch is not only the massive support for accessories (maybe Samsung) but perhaps the support of the device and software itself. When android devices can start doing what Apple does then it'll be less inferior for me but as it stands android has nice specs and all but in the real world I also realize android having those specs doesn't make up for its many short comings it still has and how the expedience still feels rough even in 2016.

Give me a tad bit more bezel.

Sounds like an instant buy

I buy my phones sim free at full Retail price.

This way they are unlocked to all networks.

In the case of non Apple phones they are Bloatware Free and recieve Firmware updates faster than what the Uk Networks send out and remain untouched too.

Throughout the year I save a set amount out of my salary in an online bank account so the money is there when I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I'm currently using the iPhone 6 Plus and decided to pass on the S models.

If the new iPhone 7 Plus / Pro or whatever they call it does not ✔️ my wants and needs boxes then either the Samsung Galaxy s7 edge or Note 7 have caught my eye ,and will possibly take a year out from the iPhone to see what occurs in the 2018 keynote.

My money has been ready for months considering I am quite resourceful and frugal when I want to be. Cost of living is also much cheaper for me. But seeing the Note 7, discounted S7 edge, and possible Nokia Android has got me reconsidering getting an iPhone again. Alot of choices and none of them look like drawbacks.

The most fascinating gadget isn't really a smartphone for me but the Nintendo NX. Now that's a mystery to me. Nintendo has really got that one under wraps. I told myself over the weekend do I really need a 6th or 7th smartphone when I am hardly a power user? Might switch my focus on gaming than on another smartphone especially something as redundant as iOS and an iPhone. $500-$650 for something that drops by half in a year is a just scam by tech brands.

But I am fickle. Might end up with Note 7, iPhone 7, or anything really. In six months, a better one comes out like an S8 edge although newer isn't always better...

No matter how much I love my vast Apple world. There's no way I'm buying a phone without a standard headphone jack.

Fingers crossed that it's a bomb and tanks the stock so that they'll come to their senses on the 7S.
You can count me in that camp. Probably wouldn't go as far as saying that I'd want their stock to "tank" (as I would hate there not to be an Apple, because I love iPhones and hate using Android, so for me I'll just keep my older iPhones for as long as possible). But yes, in the sense that I would want them to realize that many of us still want and need the universal jack, and hope it comes back in future models, that's more specifically what I mean. I know it's about 50/50 which of us want the universal jack, and which ones don't mind it's gone. But 50% is a huge amount of people not buying iPhones that ordinarily would have, so I dare say that their investors are incredibly likely to learn that lesson the hard way.

I know in the future I would eventually get over it, but I definitely won't be rushing out to buy a new one for the forseeable future. The reason being is that if it does everything that the previous iPhones do MINUS one important feature, then this is essentially a downgrade, and not an upgrade. However, I came across a video recently that may completely change my mind if this rumor turns out to be true...
Notice how in this video at it 1:43 it shows that there is a new bit at the back which he guessed might be for WIRELESS CHARGING... (now if THAT is what it turns out to be, then I'd actually consider that a more worthy tradeoff for the headphone jack, and I actually WOULD rush out and buy one whether I needed one or not!)

If it's just the rumors about waterproof, or dual speaker, then those aren't useful enough for me to consider them warranted tradeoffs for why they needed the space. But wireless charging IS!! (as I have wanted that for AGES!!)

I am actually more interested to see if Apple will release their own set of wireless headphones to complement the iPhone without a headphone jack. If it proves to be the Apple Pencil of headphones, I can see myself getting a pair. In fact, that's precisely why I have put a moratorium on buying new headphones until I see what Apple has to offer.

I really don't have any qualms with Android, I would just find it borderline pointless to own and use daily two devices on the same platform. The rumors of the new Appl Watch have piqued my interests though. Still not jazzed about the next iPhone but a really nice Apple watch this holiday season would certainly keep my with my 6s Plus (which, realistically, I would probably stay with regardless).

Considering the talk about this year's iPhone, you haven't really heard anything that really has people talking... I haven't heard anything that makes this iPhone a must-buy. This is supposed to be the Year of the iPhone 7, but yet people are talking like this is another S. I'd like to know what people think this launch is going to be.

I'm getting this iPhone the day it comes out I'm already upgrade eligible on my at&t next account bought iPhone 6s plus last year. plus with at&ts new program when i buy the new iPhone this year i will be saving $7 a month.

I was planning to skip the 7. But the only one I was fooling was myself. I have to have the latest phone.

But I'm undecided on whether to stick with the 4.7 or go back to the plus.

Hey get out of my brain. My thoughts exactly. My current plan is to get all the benefits of the plus and use a loopy case to help with the size problem.
