Issue with dosdude1's Patcher Software?

OK, this is somewhat surprising. One of the sites I visit on a daily basis (in fact, quite a few times each day) is www.macupdate.com. It is useful for finding out what Mac software has updates. Well, a few minutes ago when I visited there, I saw one for macOS Catalina Patcher for Mac. Here is the link:

Note that it says under "What's new ,,,":

Hum, I used V1.3.3 the other day to download the full installation file for Mac OS 10.15.4. Have not installed it yet, but maybe glad I have not. When I downloaded and ran V1.3.4, sure enough it downloaded the full installer for V10.15.3 of Catalina. That leads me to think there could be issues with the V10.15.4 file I downloaded the other day.

I'm hoping that dosdude1 can clear this up. I just might go with the OS 10.15.4 Combo Updater.

If you follow in the macOS Catalina for unsupported Macs you would see all the issues we are having with 10.15.4 and even on discord if you are on a fully supported Mac you can install macOS Catalina 10.15.4 from the software update no need you use the patcher, He did as several of us tried to install 10.15.4 including Dosdude and can't get into the desktop so he reveled it back so we can at least reinstall 10.15.3 which stable until the issues with AMFI and the other security checks Apple has place in the OS can be worked around

10.15.4 adds some major changes, preventing the necessary patches from working on most machines. As such, the current Catalina Patcher version has been reverted back to 10.15.3 support only, and will only download 10.15.3 installers from Apple. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't currently need to support Catalina on unsupported hardware - but I find the patcher app is a very convenient method of downloading the full Catalina installer. I kept the version 1.3.1, which continues to download the 10.15.4 full installer.

There's other methods to download the current 10.15.4 full install:
-App Store.
-use the Python macOS downloader script (installinstallmacos)

I believe you missed another method to download full installers straight from the App Store:
- any Mac(even unsupported) that have Mojave installed.

I still have V1.3.1 of the patcher, but when I queried dosdude1 about this V1.3.4 business, he told me, in no uncertain terms, not to install OS 10.15.4. That is, even though V1.3.1 will download OS 10.15.4, it is not to be installed.

Still do not know why, but I have subsequently queried him about the OS 10.15.4 Combo Updater. Might not have anything to do with this "full OS 10.15.4 installer issue", but thought I'd ask anyway. No reply yet. I have already downloaded it, but waiting for more information.

Python downloader script runs from your terminal to show you a list of various recent macOS full installer downloads, with the choice to download those versions. The versions have to be compatible with the Mac that you are using. More info here.

I followed dosdude directions precisely for installing Catalina on 2011 Mac mini multiple times. Does not get past apple logo install screen.
Mac mini has clean install of latest high Sierra and tried creating two USB drives. No dice.

I would probably give up after 2 hours.

When I reboot it boots to the High Sierra.

I managed to successfully install Catalina. Rebooting back from the USB and applying to patches. Then it booted to the Catalina desktop.

However I’m getting questions marks on Numbers, Keynote and Pages icons in the dock.

If you have the question marks for those apps in your dock right click and remove from dock then open launchpad if those apps don't have ??? drag to the dock

Why not just go for the latest version, OS 10.15.6? When I last used dosdude1's patcher, that is the version I got.

Also, if you use either SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner for your backups, there is an issue with OS 10.15.5 that "complicates" those backups.

No matter what, it's better to get OS 10.15.6.

Is there a way to update it to 10.10.15.6 instead of having to download the hole operating system again or is that the only way?

Yes if you have a spare 1gb usb unzip the USBOpenCoreAPFSloader3 follow the on screen instructions on creating a usb. 2. unzip and run the swupatch.sh in the terminal download 10.15.6 3. about 10% download complete unzip and run the catalinaswufix5amfi in the terminal. After phase 1 on Catalina is complete and reboots hold the option button choose the USBOpenCoreAPFSloader3 then from the menus choose macOS install. Once your update is finished boot into the Catalina Patcher and apply the post install patches if needed

You should not need to go all through that. After you install OS 10.15.5, you will either be alerted that there is an update, OS 10.15.6, available, or go to System Preferences and click on Software Update. Then just follow the instructions there.

You can also download the update yourself:

Actually, you should do that anyway, so that you have it. You can then just apply that update yourself.

Again, he does not need to go through that. He can just download the update and apply it.

Mac Pro 2012 - Have it patched on two different ssd pcie's. This evening I ran the patcher updates that came up for both a Mojave and Catalina ssd. Both caused the machine to no longer boot up. It gets about half way loading and a grind wheel displays and that is it. Noticed one patch was for SIP and one for video. Don't remember the others but Catalina had more then Mojave. After failed to start I booted from a different device and now SIP was enabled again. Disabled and still both ssd's stop booting during mid point. Verified SIP is disabled. One of those patches must be similar for both OS's and took both ssd's down.

Can I manually remove the patches? I saw one for SipManager. Removed that but didn't help.

Just so I understand: You have a bootable macOS installer with the latest Catalina version 10.15.7, patched by Dosdude1's Catalina patcher. Is that correct?
If you have the macOS installer mounted on your Mac, then open System Preferences/Startup Disk pane (unlock that pane now), you should see your bootable installer as one of the selections. Good so far? If you mouse across the boot choices, you should see a macOS version number AND a build number.
What version and build number do you see for your patched bootable installer?
