Hi,

I'm having a lot of issues with my  Watch and had to do a factory reset to make it work again, but now I'm not able to add a card I used for  Pay which I can still use on my iPhone?

Do I need to give both a factory reset in order to make it work again? I can better switch back to a Nokia 3310 in that case, jeez.

i don't want to be overly dramatic, and i'm sure there are people for whom this device has worked perfectly.

but in my experience.... without exception... the apple watch is the most fiddly, bug ridden, unhelpful apple product i've used. and thats saying something, since i owned a touchbar/butterfly keyboard macbook pro that was a real piece of junk too.

i don't have super helpful advice, as when i've followed people's advice to factory reset for issues in the past, and while sometimes it does fix one issue, it usually introduces another. the whole device feels like its held together with duct tape and will fall apart if you look at it wrong.

it just baffles me if its just me experiencing this volume of issues. and i feel like i'm the most basic user too... check the time... check step counts... check heartrate... check weather... literally every single one of these tasks has failed for me at one point or another.

Ma’am are you running a beta on your Apple Watch series 9? Had you enabled Apple Pay on your Apple Watch ⌚️?

What error message are you getting?
Sometimes the issue is with the bank. I remember when I got my U2 15 months ago I couldn’t add 1 card and I got a message to contact the bank. It was an emergency card so I didn’t bother going thru that trouble.

Was about to say that… also OP, getting an Apple Card?

Well, the Sleep app used to be very accurate in giving me totals for hours asleep each night. But ever since I put Watch OS 11 on it, it has been missing blocks of time. (This is on an AW Ultra 2 and also an AW 8 running only release versions of Watch OS 11+. I just installed 11.2, so can't tell yet whether it's fixed in this version.)

For example, even though I have my sleep window set as 9 PM to 8 AM, I can go to bed at 9:30 and have my Watch only catch that portion of my sleep that occurs AFTER I wake up at, say, 12:30 AM to go to the bathroom, completely missing the time I was asleep from 1O PM to 12:30 AM.

It also will sometimes miss the last portion of my sleep--e.g. if I wake at 5:30 AM, hit the head, and go back to bed and sleep until 7, it will sometimes show only the time until 5:30 AM as asleep time.

Very frustrating, especially since it worked properly for years previously.

I manually start sleep focus both on my U2 and S7 and behavior is like always, and both are on the latest released version. Maybe give that a try?
There have been some threads here indicating issues with the “auto sleep” detection feature that seems to have been introduced with 11.

How do I manually start sleep focus? Are you saying that turning on sleep focus in control center activates the sleep detection mode in the sleep app?

Let me clarify, I do have a sleep focus time set, but activate it thru control center, 95+% of the time before my sleep focus time

Never had any issues with any of my Apple Watches 🤷🏻‍♂️

This was the first time I had issues.
My wife however... she never get's everything synchronized, be it email, imessage or even calendar. This is a returning issue... Apple's answer is always: wipe and restore. It sometimes works.

Go figure

I fixed it, had to activate it on phone. Great if they say that.
They do on the support document.

The watch needs to be paired to an iPhone to work so it is actually an extension of the iPhone. Make sense that the cards need to be on the iPhone and then you can add them to the watch..

If it’s an older Apple Watch, that’s not getting current software updates. I would expect issues with it.

I seem to have this bug often

I used to have this bug on my  WATCH series 6 back in watchOS 11 beta 1-5. This is where the Smart Stack happens to overlap with the Watch face.

I restarted my Apple Watch and it went away. Did you restart your Apple Watch yet? What series is it and is it running beta?

This is a S9 on watchOS 11.2. I’ve restarted it many times. Seems to randomly happening on all version of watchOS 11 for me. No betas on my watch.

🤯 did you set any of your app(s) to auto launch the Smart Stack? Sometimes when I play music it is annoying so I have it open the app corresponding to the media app instead.

Yeah, I have a few apps that auto start in the Smart Stack like that, but TBF, that should also work, too 😉.. And it usually does. Just sometimes I see this and then realize how long it's been like that (one time listed to the other)...

Turn off the apps you don’t want to pop up in the Smart Stack and you’ll be fine, sir. Even with my water tracking app it auto launches every time I log my water intake on my iPhone. 📱
