So why are you speaking so negatively on the SG3 for incorporating this new technology? I'm not trying to start a fight with you, but your original statements bash on SG3 for bringing something new to the table. The SG3 is Samsung's current flagship phone. A trademark for a flagship phone is the new features it brings to the table, so let's let the consumer decide if they want to use it or not, but at least they'll have the option.

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, but I think the SG3 deserves more credit then you're giving it.

Woah, hold on. Where am I bashing Samsung?

Baffling,........It's a phone....why MUST your phone WOW you ever upgrade? A phone can only do so much.

"After playing with the Galaxy s3, I got that magical/WOW feeling back!!"

I get that same WOW feeling when I **** a new girl.

Even if that new girl is mad ugly & a fatty? :p

Just kidding...point is, for that price yes I want the wow factor!

On contract here in the UK is costs more than a base iMac/MBA/MBP, when the competition phones are what they are and cost so much less!

----------

What on God's green earth do you want out of a phone??

Also: are you forgetting about iOS 6? It's pretty awesome. Did you forget about having to restart your blackberry daily to keep it working? Android isn't much different. Before getting the iPhone a couple years ago, I had a handful of Android devices- they all sucked equally bad. No other phone has iOS; nor do they have the magnificent engineering of an iPhone. Android phones all look and feel like a toddler's toy phone. If that's what you want, then ENJOY IT, but you'll regret it.

Better OS. forget the feeling and everything else. The OS itself and nothing else.

*edit I deleted the original quote because i misquoted. I meant this response to be directed ad JBuff's post regarding having "a handful of Android devices a couple of years ago and they all sucked equally bad"

What you people fail to realize is that the Android phones you tried a few years ago have not been running stagnant OS like iOS has for the past 3 years, they have been moving in leaps and bounds to match the new technology that they are housed in.

Saying that all Android phones are crap because of a bad experience in the past is like me saying that all HTC phones are crap because I had a bad experience with the HTC Touch Diamond running Windows 4+ years ago.

Things change. Tech changes. If you opinion/self education doesn't change to at least respect those facts, you will always come off sounding closed minded and your comments un-noteworthy.

Consider if you will, that whether you like it or not, OS aside, the iPhone5 is merely a refined product from Apple which has caught up to the already existing features provided by other mobile phone makers through the past year.

As someone who has used Android phones starting years ago, and up until now due to my job, there's no doubt in my mind that Android is still a vastly inferior operating system to iOS. Regardless of specs/features/etc, iOS is simply much smoother and easier to use for myself, and clearly a plethora of other people. I don't thin there should be an iOS vs Android war, really, because each person should make up their own mind after trying each OS, as I did.

Why are there so many iPhone nazis in a forum dedicated to alternatives to iPhones? WTH are you trying to prove? That you are superior and that your choice to not even keep your 4s for a year isn't a mistake? Here you are, drinking koolaid and making excuses for apple holding back. When they add those old features to the 5s, you'll drink it right up. No wonder you get called isheep!? Baaaaaaad! Very baaaaaddd!

Oh, and before you ask why androids would be on this forum, I have an iPad 3 and many of us androids have iPads. We know it's the best tablet out, so there is proof we are not as indoctrinated as you poor souls. When we see a good thing, we buy it.

You obviously haven't tried jellybean. I have cm10 running on my gs3 and compared it directly to iOS via iPad 3 and 4s. Gs3 with JB equals both iPad and iPhone with screen transition smoothness and snappiness.

Gs3 with JB exceeds iPhone 4s with web browsing smoothness but equals ipad3.

Apps open just as fast if nt faster with JB as they do iOS.

Maps on gs3 is much faster than iOS. GPS locks so much faster on my gs3. Camera is just as fast, but many more options. Pictures look identical from both gs3, iPad, and iPhone.

The only place gs3 loses is build quality. Maybe the iPhone 5 WILL be faster and smoother? web browsing sucked on my 4s...

Jellybean does make it smooth, but that still doesn't change the fact that there aren't too many apps in the Play Store that you would want to open smoothly with those nice transitions.

By the way, how's the smoothness of pitch zooming in the Gmail app? You do have that right?

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

People are waaaay to invested in this whole iphone vs android thing.

It's not just a phone..

It's a way of life!

/sarcasm

But hey, it's nice to discuss the differences between different phone and how this one device affects our lives in so many ways. That is what MacRumors is for right ~ And it's even more amazing the expectations each company faces every day to keep their consumer base.
Be it Android or Apple.

I dont use Gmail. I use AOL mail. I also dont have facebook. I work and go outside as well as cherish privacy. I DO know that most of my apps are smooth as well.

Yea, some apps suck, but same with iOS. (I have an Ipad 3).

EDIT: Excuse my rambling, incoherent chat...Im super tired. :-(

can you please elaborate on inferiority? What does a superior operating system actually offer?

Ok you said smoothness. Point taken.

Ease of use?... This is not valid as a complex system would seem superior to me. What other points make iOS superior?

Not being sarcastic, genuinely interested.

I really enjoyed the custom UI, LED notification, NFC, bigger screen, more memory, better battery life, I dig the biometric swipe, and jelly bean. I'm leaning more towards the custom UI than any feature. Yes my disappointment is from reading and watching the keynote, Im not sure if I need to test it in person.

Some of these I wouldn't care about too much (custom UI, LED notification).

NFC - meh, not for me. I even killed the chips in my credit cards so I must swipe.

More memory ? How that ? Both have 1GB of RAM (not counting user memory)

Bigger screen - wouldn't work for me. I have relatively small hands, I probably couldn't operate a 4.5" screen with one hand.

Better battery life - what's your source ? I don't think the Galaxy matches 10 hours of video playback and 8 hours of Web surfing over LTE.

Biometric swipe - what is this, Google can't find any meaningful references to "galaxy s3 biometric swipe"

Pluses of iPhone 5:
+ better camera
+ 15% lighter
+ 10% thinner
+ better screen (less reflection etc...)
