Dont know if you noticed but the primary use for this purchase was to have a Mac HTPC. So I dont think a iMac would have been appropriate for what I wanted to use it for. Also I said that a iMac is in the plans after the new year for my office so its already on my radar ;). But yeah I cant wait for it to get here. Still has a 1yr warranty right?

yes, but you can extend that to 3 years warranty, and 3 years phone support instead of one year warranty and 90 days phone support by getting an Apple Care Protection Plan

YAAYYY!!!

Yes, full screen modes for Quicktime, DVD Player, Front Row and Eye TV software.

Thanks for that info. Do you or anyone happen to have a screen shot of a TV show or movie? I'd love to see that. Also what program do you use to watch movies? Sorry for all the questions. Can you tell I'm excited?

Crap! My delivery date changed from the 17th to the 18th. Another day. :(

No, I don't. But it looks great - trust me.

Umm, yeah. Those are the programs I use.

Got the mini yesterday. Its sitting on my desk here at work as I type importing/restoring my itunes library. I have a crappy monitor hooked up to it and its still running tiger but I just wanted to play with it a bit. I'll be installing Leopard tonight.

You gunna go with the Upgrade then rather than the Erase & Install?
Importing the songs into iTunes is a bugger, especially when you have songs set that they start or stop at a certain point, I couldn't find a way to get that to be preserved :/

Archive and install would be the better choice...

I was actually planning on doing an erase and install. Reason being is that I havent really set up anything on the mini besides throwing some itunes files to see how front row works etc. I wasnt even able to set up the network stuff yet (no internet). It will be best for me to just do a clean install that way I can conserve as much HD space as possible with the Leopard install. This weekend I'll be picking up the Apple wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. Looking online now at OWC memory and external HD's. I want something stackable with the mini, maybe LaCie?

If you archive and install, it is like erase except iLife items will still be there and all your vitals... you will just have a bit more work with erase and install; but if you have the time... it works.

Do you mean the iLife apps? Right now I have iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb and GarageBand. Will those go away if I do an erase/install w/Leopard? I thought the Leopard disc would have iLife.

No Leopard does not come with iLife, only purchased Mac's do or you purchase iLife08 as an individual package... or you erase and install and then use your Tiger recovery disks that came with your Mac and install from there. So after Leopard is up and running you install the Tiger disks and choose to install just the programs you want.

I have never done it that way so hopefully someone here can explain the correct steps to take. That is why I archive and install which is like a clean install but you get to keep all your apps...

i suggest:

:apple: app zapper- it removes apps and most of the hidden files associated with them
:apple: stuffit expander- it expands a lot of different file types quickly
:apple: dockables- i use this a lot, it basically puts an app in you dock and when you click it, it preforms a task (shutdown, restart, empty trash) its very handy

hope this helps :D

the unarchiver works with more formats than stuffit.

There is a setting in iTunes where you select all songs in album, and set it for gap-less-playback or something like that.

Well I am posting from my beautiful, fast Mac Mini. Just finished the Leopard install and am installing iLife apps from the Tiger install CD as I type. Its crazy the way this little thing multitasks. I could never run an installation with this many apps running at the same time in Windows. Flying from page to page is nothing and toggling from window to window the same...no delays! I love it! Will be importing my iTunes data with the restore CD's I made. Cant wait to get this baby hooked up to the 42"!!! My mac journey has begun. May the force of Cupertino be with me. :apple::apple::apple:

Just an update becaues I know you all care so much ;). I got the mini hooked up to my TV after hours of playing with the resolution settings. Turns out I didnt even need SwitchResX but had to adjust the TV's settings in the service menu. So now I dont need SwitchResX and it is installed into my preference window. How can I uninstall this? I tried dragging to the trash but that wont work. And command clicking just gives you the option to "remove from pref". If I do this will it actually uninstall the app?
