iPod is dead, the iphone and ipad eats their share. Like steve jobs said, If you don't cannibalize yourself, someone else will.

and now that apple has lowered the price on the ipad mini, maybe lots of people would see no point in an ipod.

I understand the 5C is very small on storage. I also understand there are many who cannot afford the monthly fee. That's why I still believe there's a market for the iPod..

The iPod touch starts at $199 for the 16GB. If people can't afford the price of a subsidized iPhone then they probably can't afford or need to buy an iPod anyway. Most people have cell plans with data on them anyway. I see people in the projects walking around with brand new big smartphones.

Sadly, I think you may be correct. I thought Apple might start going with a 2 year cycle for refreshing the iPod touch. With that in mind, I was thinking we might see a iPod touch based on the iPhone 6 design.

Who knows.. Apple could always surprise us, right?

I totally get what you're saying. I just know there are people that would enjoy using iOS without the monthly payment.

I'm still scratching my head wondering what that tag line was all about.

Perhaps something was dropped from the event at the last minute? E.g. Steve's grand plan to go nuclear on Android. Simultaneous launch of legal action in 100 countries. That would have been fun.

As small as the iPads get, I still can not see strapping one to my arm and going running.

I don't think there is any way that could be made to not look like a punchline...

Unfortunately, that didn't happen. RIP iPod.

That doesn't mean that it's dead.

Apple could some day just slip a 128G Touch into the line-up, and unless they said something, our someone looked, they might never know it.

They have a history of doing 'sneak upgrades', and on such a lessor product, I'd actually expect that kind of update rather than a ticker-tape parade...

I honestly think there are reasons for Apple to keep the Touch and Nano around. Killing the shuffle wouldn't be a heart breaker for me.

They killed 'The Stick' when it showed a lot of potential. I still have two, and hope they keep working, but I have grown attached to the Nano and my Touch due to the Bluetooth capability irradiating my brain box with my tragically sub-par Motorola headphones that are 'better than nothing - but barely'...

Mac Mini update?

It's all I got...

Ohh, an obscure reference to three years post-Steve? Hmm. Still got nothing...

iPod touch 6g is releasing in march 2015! Apple said that they are putting the iPod apple watch and Apple TV in a category called other! If apple watch is releasing in march, guess what, the other stuff in that category also will release like iPod touch 6g and Apple TV. IPod touch 6g probably didn't come out bcuz apple couldn't fit it in. 2 iPhones and apple pay came out in September and 2 iPads and Mac mini and a new OX Yosemite came out in October. I don't think apple could have fit iPod touch 6g into those shows.

Plus they need to make millions of iPods, not just one. They need stocks and parts to make like 10 million iPods. It takes a while.

Personally I have a iPod 4g and I have been waiting for iPod 6g for a few months. I already waited like 4-5 months and was disappointed.
Why not just wait again until march while is 3 1/2 months
