Hehe... Is it possible for a new Macbook Pro to already feel old and outdated??? ;)

My Macbook Pro 1.83 is no longer sold by Apple! They now only have the 2.0 and 2.16, and they dropped the prices on both..... feeliing a little depressed.....

Still Love my machine though! And you can never look back when it comes to computer purchases!

Did anyone notice that the bumped up the processor speeds in both 15.4" MBP models one step?

Why in the world are they charging $150 extra for the black version!!!!! It better come with a black Apple remote for that price!

I hadn't, but that's good news. Especially as I think I am now going to be going for an MBP rather than an MB.

WOAH!! They also added a glossy display option to the Macbook PRO!!!

Wow! No one predicted those processors speeds. For those of you who kept saying "core solo" in the low end, well :p . But all you integrated graphics folks were right. I thought for sure it would be dedicated. Oh well, with those processor speeds, can't really complain.

$1299 model seems like the sweet spot to me; faster processor, superdrive instead of the combo of the base model. I've got a 7200rpm 100GB HD to put in mine, so the upgrade to black color and 60 to 80GB drive for an extra $200 ($1499) hardly seems worth it.

This MacBook is utterly AMAZING! It's hard to believe you can get the same processor the MBP has had the past 4 months @ $2499 for just $1299!!!! THAT IS INSANE! I'll gladly take integrated graphics (cooler running, longer battery life) and have 2.0GHz processor.

I cannot believe they have phased out, a what?? 3 month old computer?? after all that fuss about 'upgrading us' too!

Arse!

edit: sorry, slightly mad 1.83 MBP owner! oh well

The black is quite nice. The thing that gets me is that I put my PB next to my mom's new gateway (yes gateway)_ and the screen on the PB is certainly put to shame. I didn't really care before and I don't care now, but the glossy screen on the macbook makes me think...why didn't they do that with the PB? In the first place.

At no cost! Its awesome that they give you the choice.

No kidding. I detest the glossy screens -- they seem to be prone to high levels of glare. I wish I hadn't been such an early MBP adopter though, I wouldn't have minded having the 2.16 GHz speed bump. :)

Oh well, that's the price I pay for having my machine a few months, and the 2.0 GHz is pretty close in performance to the 2.16 anyway.

They didn't phase out a computer, just upgraded the processor. You're too used to IBM and Motorola, welcome to real world.

Choice is good, but since the glossy option is inferior in most respects, the no cost part of it doesn't come as a surprise to me.

Too bad you're stuck with glossy only for the Macbooks.

Its ordered.

Macbook WHITE (not paying black premium) 2GHZ Dou

1gb Mem (2gb too expensive upgrade, leaving it at 512 is 2x256mb damn)

80gb HD

€1380

Asus

I Have to add this point: The Macbooks are built by Asus. I've had the pleasure of using ASUS products for almost 7 years now. They are a truly remarkable company, with excellent RELIABLE products.

In that respect, I believe that the Macbook will have less problems that the Macbook Pro itself, which is amazing. Asus knows how to build computers!

Dual Display Modes
When you connect an external display or projector to a MacBook or MacBook Pro, you can make presentations to large groups, extend your workspace, or work with the lid closed.

Oh yeah ! No hacks needed !
