One problem with two-finger taps to accomplish a right click is that scrolling with two fingers can sometimes be interpreted as a right click. This causes the context sensitive menu to open and you have to close it to continue scrolling.

That's a separate option; I don't use two-finger taps. You can set it to register a right click when you have two fingers down and press the mouse button, ignoring taps.

I thought the same bloody thing when I started using my MBP yesterday. It definately takes some getting used to...... The 2 finger + click is interesting... but i'm used to that now. If it's that bad, get a USB mouse ;)

In fact, only by tapping the trackpad with two fingers should make a right-click.

No need to put two fingers + click.:)

one finger snap and two finger scroll

i guess since its a 6 year old powerbook you wont be able to double tap. but i do have an alternative.

http://www.old-jewel.com/onefingersnap/index.html

its called one finger snap and its a freeware. i use it on my cube one button mouse and its a god send. basically if you click down for 0.5 seconds the right click context menu shows up.you can do the same for the powerbooks too.all you need is panther or tiger.

also for old laptops i recommend this

http://iscroll2.sourceforge.net/

this lets you do the two finger scroll that the new macbooks enjoy.

but i dont know how these two preferencepanels will work when installed together and might confilict.

good luck:):

It is stupid that you think it is stupid that your newly purchased 6 year old machine doesn't have a right click when in fact it does understand such function but 6 years ago and even today Macs aren't right click dependent. You can function just fine without one.
