well reguardless of DVD resolution, It looks great @ 1920x1200, IE Apple 23"/Dell 24", and looks even better @ 1680x1050, IE Apple 20"/Dell 20"/17" pBook, and the iTms videos are poor @ 1024x768. but I still think DVDs look great on a 20" LCD (it's the biggest I've hever used, however I have seen Kill bill on both a 23" and 30" Apple LCD, and it still looked really good)

A bit OT: Anybody know what CBS uses? I know that ABC broadcasts Hi-Def at 720p and I believe NBC uses 1080i. It's just that CBS HD looks so much better than the others. I'm guessing 720p. I haven't been keeping up on the HDTV movement for a while. I suspect the new 1080p HDTV's will only be upconverting to progressive as the current DVD players do. I don't believe that anybody has plans to broadcast in 1080p, is that the understanding

I think that it depends on your carrier. I have Comcast and ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX are all 1080i.

In fact all HD channels on Comcast are 1080i, I have however seen my TV go in to 1080p mode while watching Rome on HBOHD, so maybe the HD premium stations are broadcasting some of their content in 1080p.
