Apple does not deliver your product. Apple use a delivery service.

I know that. I was unclear in my post above, I had to order an Apple product on the internet from an Apple Store. I am disappointed that my upgrade could not have been done in store. That is why I went to an Apple Store and not Best Buy. The best analogy I can give is it's like buying a suit at a suit tailor vs. buying a suit at Khol's.

The carrier had tried to deliver it on time. If you know you are not there to pick it up, that's your own fault. Do you not know what the tracking number is used for? On the day of delivery, the tracking would say: on vehicle for delivery.

I had a tracking number, reread my posts I was following the delivery of the package everyday, including the days where there was no update.

In addition, if no signature is required or you actually read and pre-sign the package, you seems to be the type of person who would blame anyone but YOURSELF, if the package walked away (say by a theif because no one signed for it and it's just sitting there).

I don't think I was clear on how this is going to work. I am supposed to sign a door hanger, left by the delivery person today (5/3), so that tomorrow (5/4) the package can just be left on the doorstep if no one was home.

Do you not see the flaw in that logic? If no one was here today to sign for the package I am not going to be here tomorrow to sign for it anyways. So if the end result is that I am to pre-sign a form and let FedEx leave the package here on my doorstep, I would have rather just done that today.

I would have liked to have been able to print out a doorhanger from the internet that would have allowed the FedEx guy to leave the package at the door TODAY not TOMORROW. Tomorrow is "late." It's a matter of principle. OR better yet, have been permitted to just go to the FedEx center and pick it up myself, I would have been ok with that.

Furthermore, I was upset that when I called FedEx about this, I was told that my options were to 1) wait for the package (which I am doing now), 2) pre-sign for the package tomorrow with the door-hanger that I received today, 3) Cancel the delivery and schedule a pickup. Which would have been an extra 2 days at least, because for some reason they would have to transfer it to another center.

Honestly though, it's ok. I'm over it and I am going to get it tomorrow one way or another. I am sorry I was not clear enough in my first post. I am done hijacking this thread. I'll give ya all a hello tomorrow from my new iMac :)

Yeah, I'd be careful on that one. It told me it was coming on a Saturday. I had to make a 2.5 hour road trip that day, but didn't want to leave until it got there. It even said out for delivery at like 7:45am. It didn't get there until 7:15 PM.
lol, i can see that happening to me. Oh well, I things I can do while waiting. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for me not to go to work tomorrow.

I have come to believe that the package delivery people are watching my house so that they can try to deliver only when I am not home. I work from home 3 days a week and it never fails that if I need to run a quick errand, they will try to deliver when I am out ... even if for only 15 minutes out of the whole day. It's enough to make you paranoid! At this point, I usually put the "pre-signed" delivery authorization up on the front door.

I recently ordered my new Imac 20"

2.66GHZ INTEL CORE 2 DUO
4GB 800MHZ DDR2 SDRAM - 2x2GB
320GB SERIAL ATA DRIVE
IWORK 08 065-7553 IWORK '08 PREINSTALLED
MOUSE (FOR AOS) 065-7633 APPLE MIGHTY MOUSE
APPLE KEYBOARD & USER'S GUIDE 065-7638 WIRED KYBD & USER'S GUIDE

I'm extremely excited! I placed my order the 28th and it says its due to be delivered may 30-june 4th. It says that it is in taledo OH. When should i start expecting it. I mean this is taking for freaking ever to deliever its just starting to piss me off lol.
Welcome to the Apple fraternity. :) That's a nice iMac. :)

If I may: I would also invest in an external USB hard drive or a drive and a USB enclosure. Back up often; if something happens to your hard drive, you'll not have lost everything -- and you can set up a partition with a ready-to-go installation. It's tons easier in OS X than in Windows.

I ordered the same thing that you did minus iwork and the extra ram, but I ordered it from Amazon. I placed my order today and will have it tomorrow. This will be my first Mac and I can't wait to get mine. I don't see how you guys can wait so long to get yours. :D

Congrats and welcome to you as well. :)

You'll like it. :apple::apple::apple:

And not to rub it in... I drove 18 miles to get mine.

um, you could have printed one out today. Whenever you order something online at apple, they tell you you have ot be there to sign, and you get a nice little confirmation email ofcourse for your order, and one one of those emails - or just on the site as well, there is a link to a site to "presign" for your shipment

You go there, print out a "door hanger" put it on your door, and WALLA. just want you wanted.

So that is an option, you just didn't read your order and apple site clearly enough... sorry! :(

I've done this with the last 2 computers i've gotten from them.

No no no, My computer was shipping from cally towards ohio. I'm from pa. It just pisses me off. Ya know. Lets just all tell you it still has not updated today. I called fedex yesterday and they stated that it will up date on the 3rd even tho the tracker said it woudl update on the 2nd well its the 4th and i still do not have an update. This is bull i'm really starting to get pissed.

I know it's not much help ...

but I ordered mine (BTO but that did not take long) on 23rd May 2008 and it turned up late yesterday afternoon. That's eleven days plus from order to delivery. Of course I am in the UK so it's not the same but it is an indication. For most of that time it did not have a courier assigned - that only occurred in the last couple of days.

I'm a pretty proud person, but you are right, I did completely overlook that. I have that email. I looked at the total to confirm that it was right with my checkbook and immediately clicked on the FedEx link. From there I just reloaded the page to see any changes.

Welp, you all can ignore the multiple posts of complaining that I have, no issues here.

sdtexas4 good luck on getting your computer.

sheesh....calm down...you'll get the machine....online package tracking and real time inventory aren't bullet-proof applications....pretend this is 10 years ago and there was no package tracking, things showed up when they showed up and you got to open the box and it was like Christmas!

This is always great advice. Time Machine is awesome. So easy to use. I never used to back stuff up because I didn't feel like the extra work. Now I just keep an external attached to my iMac and it continuously backs up all the time.

it came. its awesome. i am completely over everything else :p

Thanks for reading my whining.

I can't wait to set it up after work tonight good to be back in the :apple: camp.

Keep patient sdtexas4...good things come.

Although a few people will likely disagree with it, I have my main drive split into two partitions. There's a 20 GB partition with an updated installation of Leopard. Firefox, Thunderbird, TextEdit and all the apps I use are fully configured and ready to go. I think it's a little faster that moving stuff via a firewire cable.

I don't even bother with Time Machine. I guess I'm too used to doing things myself.

I'm going to get an enclosure soon and clone the backup installation to it. My old busted iMac is playing that role for the time being. Sort of like Coy and Vance instead of Bo and Luke.
