I've got bugs in my laptop!! (walking variety)

Sometimes when I'm working at my laptop a tiny bright red spidery thing comes out of it. Just now I was typing and a thrip walked out of the miniscule gap between the lid and the hinge! :eek: I could swear it waved at me before it went back in.

Now where's that connection that says report this bug to Apple . . .

Hope they're not eating anything in there.

if you soaked your notebook in water, would it drown the critter...?

would that affect the LCD?

maybe spray a bit of bug spray around?

I would freezer it. But not for too long. You dont want any concendensation building up behind the screen or anything crazy like that

you're not alone. i have one or two ants in my macbook. nothing bad yet though, just annoying. they come up through the vents or one time through the keys.

What you might try is to purchase some of those "roach motel" type bug traps for the critters you have. Obviously get something for the type of bug. Then place your laptop near the bug trap. It might lure the bugs out of your laptop and into the trap. Bring the bugs out, don't put bug killer spray in.

Or let an ant eater play with your laptop.

I had a tiny crawling thing once in my screen. It died in the left part of the frame out of sight. Those red spider things...are you talking about those really really small ones like a little bit bigger than a period?

but yes, use the infamous CD/C2D heat and fry those buggers. then while the computer's off, shake it with the vents facing down.

Be thankful it hasn't taken up residence in your ear canal. Have a rolled up newspaper handy the next time he decides to make his presence known. Lay the smackdown and let him know what you're cooking.

Can I say that honestly - i'd be FREAKING OUT, the darn thing would either be on its way to Apple to get rid of them, or i'd be at the Genius Bar for them to do it.

I DON'T DO BUGS (and yes, i know i live in FL king big bug state - they stay outside where they belong :p)

HEY!! I had a bug inside my Apple Cinema Display.

It crawled half way through my screen and I pressed on the screen. BAD MOVE on my part as it squished the bug and now it looks like a big clutch of dead pixels on my screen. Completley ruining the display, and apple wont repair it ? :(

This has to be the funniest thread i have ever seen.

but definitely, rendering videos, possibly download Fan Contorl, turn the fans up for a couple of hours, shocked when you think about the CD drive is a very inviting place for bugs, now im frantically searching the two 17 inchers looking for a bug...a lot of room, possibly a colony.

A friend of mine had an ant colony (queen and all) living in his old router. It was a very warm and friendly environment for them. I'm not sure turning up the heat will help. I am a big fan of killing them one by one. I actually got rid of a bad flea infestation that way. It was a few weeks of work, but then all bugs are gone.
