Not the AirPods themselves, but the charging case. I find myself carrying it around to ensure I have a fully charged pod at all times (I use only one at a time as a BT device for phone calls..the battery life sucks for that..but thats for another thread). I have misplaced the charging case twice already.

I'm looking for a small tracking device that I can use the next time I set it somewhere and can't find it. Preferably one that plays a tone when being located. I want something small enough to attach to the outside of the case. I looked into the Tile tracker, but its 1.75" square. Thats too big to stick to the outside of the AirPods case.

Anyone know of a small tracking device I can use? Thanks!

You could stick a https://thetrackr.com to it but it will look like ****.

This is what it may look like.

The reviews are not so good on the Trackr. Plus the app always has to be open. And if pairing is lost, it won't work. I'm not sure that is the product for me. Thanks though.

Put it in your pocket. How hard is that?

I am more concerned about losing the case than a single Airpod to tell the truth but I have not yet resorted to using some kind of tracker. I will stay tuned for suggestions.

You don't think it could fall out? My smartphone has fallen from my jacket pockets a number of times, especially while seated.

I put my case in my pants pocket. It's small enough that it doesn't annoy me...and I can rest assured that I'm not going to lose the case because I put it in my pocket.

Umm. Thats what I do when I want it on me. I don't always wear the same pair of pants so eventually it will have to come out. The first time I misplaced it, I was using them in bed. They ended up falling behind the bed and wasnt easy to find. Second time was in my work truck. They fell into the "black hole" between the seats. Took me forever to find it.

Edit: Wait...you wear your pants 24/7?? Sometimes I like to go to work naked...well except for my AirPods. Doesn't everybody? :)

Hmm, wonder how long it will be before someone puts the case through a load of laundry. Report back with the result...and pics!

Already been done, surprisingly the results are pretty good:
These took a beating and they still work after being dropped, washed in a washer machine and dried in a dryer then being submerged in water they still survived. That is amazing!!!!

So my info was wrong. Tile is 1.34" square. The front of the AirPods case is approx 1.25" of flat surface., not including the flip top. I'm gonna order a Tile and see how it fits on the front. I'll stick it on it it's not too large, otherwise it will go in my pants in case I lose them :)

How about a case for the case that clips to your keys.

Which also has a tile clipped to the keys.

Next problem?

While everyone can lose things, I don't really see what this is such an issue or concern.

Throughout the day I constantly (even without realizing it) briefly check for my wallet, phone, and [now] AirPods so they shouldn't get far. Unless you're sitting at a sharp incline, your stuff shouldn't slip out of your pockets and the AirPod case is bulky enough to feel it move. When not in use, I set my AirPods in their case [although I have briefly laid them on my desk or bed to do something, but I have no pets so they're not running away].

I've lost numerous pencils and I will *never* remember my umbrella, but I've never lost anything of value I don't really see how that happens. A few years back I remember getting a mass email from someone in a 400 person economic lecture class that read "HELP!!! I LEFT MY MACBOOK IN CLASS EARLIER TODAY! DID ANYONE FIND IT!? PLZ HELP!"

I just read it and went:

So, yes, anyone can lose something by mistake, but constantly worrying about it or anticipating it as an absolute just reflects a lack of proper responsibility.

Funny story. I left my case on the coffee table the evening after I got them. The next morning they were gone. I looked everywhere and nothing. Later that day I found them in the bathroom in my toiletries bag. My son thought it was dental floss and put it away.
