Thanks to Apple and their generous return policies I'm trying the X out again and am just finding it so hard to love this device. I think what frustrates me the most is the lack of full screen support on some of the most commons streaming apps like ESPN or FoxSports Go. I also have noticed FaceID slowing down just in the week that I've had the device. Also, the batter life is just sort of meh for me. I think my best bet may be to exchange for an 8+ and ride that out for a while. Am I nuts?

I know…that fugly camera bump (abcess) is impossible to get over (for me).

Major reason I did not buy the 7+, the 8+ or the X.

Turn off face id, you will see it's much better.

Typically the ones who complain the loudest about the high price of Apple goods
Are the same ones who game the system with returns
Helping to create said higher prices
And are oblivious to the role they are playing in the circle of life

I don't know whether to laugh or roll my eyes. Either way, let it all out, you'll feel better when it's over.

you are doing it all wrong
that phone only works when you need to meet people at the club, or lounge

Apps not being updated for the full screen is not really apples fault, you can blame lazy developers on that one. and for those that haven't updated just make believe you are using an older iphone with the top and bottom borders. I guess everyone's use case varies but i get the best battery life I've ever gotten from a phone with the X and I've had pretty much every iPhone and some Samsungs. i am heavy user and start around 6am every day, when I go to bed around 11pm i still have about 20% left.

you are certainly not crazy for not liking the phone though, everybody's tastes and needs are different. Get the phone that works best for you... you gave it a second shot and thats fine, but if you get and return a 3rd one then you are just taking advantage of Apple's generous return policy. get the phone you like and move on.

Am I nuts?

I can't answer that. But I can say that my X has been a champ since day 1. I don't know what you're doing that's causing FaceID to actually slow down over time, but I guarantee that's not the typical user experience; it certainly hasn't been mine. True to the claims, FaceID has only gotten cleaner as time has gone on (far fewer 'misses' now as compared to the first weeks I had it).

I love the OLED display on my X. I love the full-screen of it. Are there a couple of apps out there that still haven't adopted the new resolution? Sure. But for marquis apps, those aren't common and the alternative is using an LCD display where you're still going to be seeing the app in the same aspect ratio as the one you don't like that they're using on the X.

If you prefer the 8-series, go for it and be happy. I've just yet to see any real problem issues talked about for the X.

Is there a big difference with face id off?

Obviously you’re sacrificing the security feature with Face ID off and you’re just using the phone as you normally would. However, Face ID is so seamless to use when it’s on in unlocking, I don’t know *why* someone would want to jeopardize any personal information or data with Face ID disabled.

As I mentioned here, not sure if it required it’s own thread.

I have the same issue with FOXSportsGO when I watch the Arizona Diamondbacks only because that app does not support the notch.

This issue is NOT limited to iOS, this is going to be the same problem on android P and all the notches supported on their phones.

It’s not the iOS that doesn’t support widescreen, it’s the app developers that didn’t implement it’s usage.

You’ll find this less of a problem as app developers readjust, especially since a ton of android phones including the new pixel 3 have a notch.

So technically what you don’t love about the iPhone X you also won’t love about most android phones except for Samsung phones without a notch.

No. In the month I used an X, I found for me it was second place to the 8+. Your concerns are shared.
In the end, you decide on what works best for you.

That's why I'm asking if there's a big difference or if it's a negligible one.

Don’t think the OP will sacrifice security as the passcode method is still there and definitely is more secure than any biometric authentication system.

You will always find the app writers behind. Some of your apps will never be upgraded. What some notice and dive you crazy, there are other who do not even notice. I pay attention to what is on the screen and not what is not.

Of course there is not....where did you get that idea :)
BTW, face ID is a great feature for me....absolutely essential....works perfectly :)

I thought fox sports go supported the notch?

Someone stated earlier to turn off face id to save battery life. I was wondering if it really makes that big of a difference.
