I thought fox sports go supported the notch?

No it doesn’t, I can’t expand this baseball game whether I double tap it or stretch with my fingers.

I don’t know if watching it live has anything to do with watching it pre-recorded . I always watch them live maybe there’s something to that I have to look into it .

Thanks to Apple and their generous return policies I'm trying the X out again and am just finding it so hard to love this device. I think what frustrates me the most is the lack of full screen support on some of the most commons streaming apps like ESPN or FoxSports Go. I also have noticed FaceID slowing down just in the week that I've had the device. Also, the batter life is just sort of meh for me. I think my best bet may be to exchange for an 8+ and ride that out for a while. Am I nuts?

Why is it so important for you to force yourself to like a product? I never could understand why if Apple comes out with a new product some people feel like they HAVE to buy it whether they like it (Need it) or not. Baffling to me.

While it is a complete waste of resources to buy and return because you can't make up your mind, OP is right. Hate the game, because hating the player is actually encouraging Apple to continue offering that generous return policy. You know why? That generous return policy allows Apple to create the second source of revenue called refurbished items. They essentially get to double dip in their own revenue stream.

So while the OP gets flamed for taking advantage of said policy, as a stock holder, the more people buying and returning boosts Apple's revenues, keeping that business strong. Total waste of our planets resources but the only way to stop is to stop supporting Apple which people here aren't willing to do.

And yet it isn't double dipping...

On a return, Apple refunds the price of a new item
Then incurs cost of refurbishing said item
And then resales it at a reduced cost from the original new item
So a perfectly good new item that sold at X price is now sold at Y reduced price
So the net is a loss, not a gain

Even if it is an exchange because of some tiny perceived imperfection (I SEE DUST!!!! whether you do or not)
The new item that is returned/refurbed is resold at a loss
Those who scream they pay a high price and their item has to be pristine (in their eyes and standards), they help create the environment that raises the prices

So hardly double dipping
Apple is recouping some of their loss, but it is still a net loss
And consumers are charged more to cover those who are gaming the system

Yes, the refurb business is good for Apple
But it doesn't change the fact that people are gaming the system
Apple doesn't have the generous return policy to artificially create a refurb business
They have it to provide excellent customer service
The refurb business is a way to recoup the losses incurred by their customer service

I understand there are situations that require returns
But the OP said, "Thanks to Apple and their generous return policies I'm trying the X out again"
That's what I object to, they have already tried it once, and are trying it again, just because they can based on Apple's generous policy
Yes, Apple has the policy
No, the OP didn't do anything technically wrong
But it is still taking advantage of a policy that was designed to provide excellent customer service in ways it was not designed for IMO

I don’t dare tell you that I also use a Keurig machine daily

You’ve really got your undies in a bunch over this! Amazing what triggers people these days.

I’m amazed how people don’t see - taking advantage - as a problem. I’m completely in agreement with @MacDawg

You guys should work for Apple. Especially in light of the fact that it was an Apple store employee who encouraged me to give it another shot. I’m glad we’ve got at least a few stand up guys like you around here to keep the rest of us low life’s in check

It doesn’t matter how you like to paint it and put a hilarious spin to it. Bottom line is you are taking advantage. It’s not illegal but it’s immoral.

The practice will continue until it becomes too abused (Like it always does), and then Apple will change their policy. Same thing happened to Costco. They used to have a return policy that let a customer bring back anything for any reason. No expiration. I know for a fact my ex-wife and my sister both returned sofas that were five years old and received a full refund so they could buy new ones. There will be those who always abuse the system and (we all) pay the price. Now Costco's return policy is 90 days.

This has already happened with Apple ‘s replacement policy. Previously they used to replace the phone for pretty much anything. These days it’s not the same.

Although they’ve started repairing a lot onsite, I guess that helps with cost reduction compared to replacement.

Don’t think the OP will sacrifice security as the passcode method is still there and definitely is more secure than any biometric authentication system.
The passcode method isn’t any more secure than FaceID, at least not a 6 digit passcode. FaceID has a 1 to 1 million false acceptance rate (according to Apple), which is the same rate as randomly guessing a 6 digit passcode correctly (1 million possible passcodes).

Although that’s how it might sound but it has been proven that identical twins can unlock Face ID. But there’s no chance of that happening with passcode and also trying incorrect passcode for a million combination becomes almost impossible in practical terms. That’s why it’s so difficult to break into iPhones anyway.

While it’s true that is almost impossible to guess a correct passcode out of a million, it’s just as unlikely that a person at random would be a match to your FaceID profile. Sure you could have an identical twin hack your FaceID, but anyone could look over your shoulder and get your passcode. Both of the systems have some flaws, but FaceID and a 6-digit passcode, statistically, have the same probability of being compromised

You do what you want. I love the X.

Typically the ones who complain the loudest about the high price of Apple goods
Are the same ones who game the system with returns
Helping to create said higher prices
And are oblivious to the role they are playing in the circle of life

Haha. Yes and not because Apple is driven by profits?

You really think that the losses incurred by customers who return their purchases is so significant that it forces Apple to increase their prices to compensate? Right...

The iPhone X is probably not going to be for every consumer, because it does offer some drastic changes without the home button and face ID. But I think it’s an adaptation phase that after using for something so long, you become more accustomed to it. Being that iPhone X is in its first year, I think you will have those gradually appreciate it more for what it is over the course of time. Thats the nature of technology in general, that change is always not generally accepted right away, but you have to give it time.

No home button and FaceID are huge changes and improvements in my opinion....I am extremely happy to own and use X :)

i think you are right, in a couple of years there will be no iphone supported that will not have faceid (until the next thing).
