How do you use yours?

I thought I'd just use my iPad au naturel, but got into the habit of using a clear silicon case for grippiness and protection.

Got the official case, but don't really like having the cover flapping around, and find it tricky to slip it in and out. Bequeathed it to the gf for hers. (Might try the Macally one...)

Took it out of the case again recently, and it's noticeably lighter and slicker. Might get back to using it as nature intended again.

Your style, iPadders? Is it too scratchable without a cover?

The aluminum is quite scratch-able, IMO. I covered my MacBook with Invisible Shield immediately, and am glad I did. I've seen some pretty nasty looking MacBooks.

The iPad, though, gets more use and moving around. (I use the MacBook primarily for development, so most of the time it stays put, closed, on my desk.)

I went with a Power Support protector for the front, and the Belkin Grip Vue case for the back. I didn't bother with any film protector for the back, since I rarely if ever take the iPad out of the case. (I went with belt-and-suspenders for my iPhone, though, cause it goes to the beach, etc.)

The Grip Vue is $29.99 at Fry's vs. 49.99 at the Apple Store!

Read the reviews, the Grip Vue is widely-praised. It is precisely made, feels and looks great, nice and grippy.

I got a Tucano Second Skin just like I have for my Macbook for taking it with me. If you use it regularly in an office setting, though, you might want some kind of folio case that you can just flip open at the conference table. ;) The Second Skin is a tight fit with the Grip Vue installed, but it does fit. You have to be careful when zipping it so you don't catch the foam lining.

My clear case is a Macally flexifit - which is pretty sweet, but I'd happily get one even thinner and easier to slip on and off. Especially one which would work with the dock.

I've never been precious about my iPod Touch getting scratches in use, but I've always used it in a slipcase in my pocket to prevent the worst abuses.

Isn't the iPad designed to be relatively hardwearing in use with its aluminium casing?

I've got a crap 10" netbook sleeve to carry it around in. This ought to be replaced, but I'm not sure what with yet, especially if I continue to use a skin... the Tucano fits well even with a skin on?

I prefer to keep my iPad 'naked' but with a screen protector and clear film back as well. This will allow the iPad to not get scratched while providing a bit of grip at the same time. Obviously it won't protect it against drops but I keep it without the Apple case at Home.

Ditto. Power Support Crystal Film on the front. SGP Carbon Skin on the back.

Awesome combo - and easier to hold (Carbon Skin has texture and is grippier than the aluminum).

I've read too many stories of people scratching their screens - I've seen too many scratched rear aluminum panels when checking out the Apple store demo units.

When transporting, I chuck it into an Incase slip sleeve.

It is like your new phone. You don't want to drop it and you get upset the first time that it happens but after that it isn't a big deal the 2nd, 3rd and subsequent times.

I haven't taken my iPad out yet so I don't have a case or a sleeve for it yet. When the time comes I will go for the sleeve because I have 3 Apple docks and cases don't allow enough room for the iPad to seat in the dock properly.

I use the Macally MetroL case. A quick YouTube walk through here

I love this case b/c it protects what needs protecting while preserving the thinnest of the iPad. I don't care for the branding on the back but other than that no complaints. I also put an anti-glare screen protector on (it was a discount version. Forgot where I got it, but it was cheap). I didn't like it initially -- thought it blurred the text too much, but I've gotten use to it.

Incase sleeve when out and about. Naked all other times for now, but a Dodocase is on the way.

Shouldn't this thread be in the accessories section?

I spent a week with it au natural due to waiting for the apple case to arrive.

During this week I treated it like a precious stone, careful where I put it, had to lay it on a tea towel when charging as worried about scratching it (it was my brand new shiney baby, you understand!)

My case arrived and it changed everything, I can now flip it open, secure the flap and essentially manhandle it to my hearts content. I rest it on the bath taps to watch iPlayer, it sticks to my knee when browsing and typing on the sofa, I need not worry where I put it down.

If it marks, I wipe it with a sponge and dry it off. Simple.

It genuinely has changed how I use the iPad.

This case gets a bad rap. Until I see a fancier more expensive leather option that holds this baby in place as well as Apples offering I'm sticking.

I like the Apple case. While it gets kind of dirty, the way you can fold the front flap over to make it lay at an incline for typing is what seals the deal for me.

I couldnt figure out for the life of me what kind of case I wanted to get but I think i've found the perfect combination! About a week ago there was a neoprene sleeve by kensington that everyone here was buying off Amazon for $5, so i picked up one of those, and an Incipio Feather. I highly recommend the combination!

Agreed, and if it gets dirty, give it a wipe. Some reviews make you believe it needs throwing away once it picks up a stain!

Yep, I'm using the Apple case. Looked online at the Macally Bookstand and the Marware Eco Vue, but both are difficult to get in Canada and have their own flaws which reviewers complain about. Ultimately I couldn't just keep using mine naked (I was babying it like others who posted above) so I just went to the local Apple Store and bought a case. And it works well!

My ideal case is folio-style, something unobtrusive and discreet.

I have also ordered a case from Deal Extreme, it was only $12 so we'll see how that goes when it arrives.

I got mine from [that place where you bid for items]. I got it for like $10 and it works great! Black silicon case. I love it! :D

I would prefer the glass to be naked and the iPad to be in a slim cover that gave it some grip.

But I've got 4 year old twins that are going to get their paws on it from time to time, so I put mine in a PowerSupport crystal film and a Speck shell.

Not crazy about the Speck. I don't like prying the flap open every time I need to sync or charge.

Not necessarily. The Q is about the iPad's qualities with no accessories. :)

Apple Case....

I like the screen protection...I throw it in the bag and I am done. Not worried about something banging directly on the glass.

I was looking at the Belkin, but I don't think it has a cover.

Wouldnt mind a black rubber for the back with the front a black felt cover.

Hybrid Belkin Apple Case.

I'm with lumpydog- I have near the same setup-

Power Support ANTI-GLARE Film on the front. SGP black Carbon Skin on the back. Awesome combo - and easier to hold (Carbon Skin has texture and is grippier than the aluminum).

looks cool too. it's almost all black, with just the apple on the back showing thru the Apple shape cutout (not an ugly circle).
just put the power support on tonight, it wasn't fun, it has some very very minor flaws, but I hope it sticks good.
I stuck it in the Apple case, which I also like when leaving home or want a stand. It's snug as a bug.

Use 3 things basically.

A skinizi skin/decal/sticky plastic thing on the back of the ipad, to protect from scratches, a cheap ebay clear screen protector, all wrapped in a apple case.

I'm pretty happy using the apple case. Lot of people say its a bad value but it is very functional so far. Plus it is thinner and lighter then most 3rd party cases I've run across. It does the job and looks discrete and professional, no complaints from me.
