I just finished going to 2.2.1 and the phone was pretty darn snappy. then I jail borke and I ddn't notice any cahnges in the speed. Then I installed all my themes and customizations and it was slower.

Don't say it was slower. Call it what it is - LAG

People JB to add themes and customizations and when they do it = LAG.

Call it what you will but jailbreaking, like you insist and try to impose on others, isn't causing the iphone to slow down.

Its like a truck, installing a tow package doesn't slow down the truck. towing a 4500 pound trailer does.
If OrangeDog was to was writing this he would want you to believe the installation of the tow package is the root cause of the truck decreased performance, not the extra load on the engine.

Well I can install anything from the App store and it doesn't cause lag. So as you say....JB and start installing stuff.....surprise surprise.....you get lag.

It's one of the BIGGEST complaints about jailbreaking. I've lost count at the number of people that I have read posting theads complaining about the lag from their JB'n iPhones and iPods.

If you exclude all the threads you've started and your whining posts in almost every thread about jb, there are about 3 other complaints.

Do you ever add anything to discussions besides snide cheap shots?
This post is truly hilarious coming from someone like you who posts lies in almost every jb thread. Do you ever add anything to any thread except lag fiction?

...anyway...

Jailbreaking is the reason I did not return my iPhone within the 30 day period. I wouldn't have kept it if I had to use it stock. I'm not talking about themes, I'm talking about simple ease of use. Apps like Clippy, QuickGold, SBSettings, Categories and iLog turned a phone that was a PITA to use in to something worth keeping.

Why do I get the feeling you have never JB'ed let alone try different configurations.

What stuff are they installing?

Ow, to me, i think the only thing that i would consider jailbreaking the phone over is to get applications, however, a couple of questions.

Say you use Installous to get some cracked games (Kroll, or whatever, thats just an example), if an official update is released via the app store, are you able to download this official update, or will it say you havent bought it in the first place to be entitled to the update?

Secondly, thinking about it, isnt it possible to download a cracked game from the internet (another official game), add it to iTunes and sync it with a NON-JAILBROKEN phone? Why would it not be possible?

Reading is a good skill to acquire.

I have had 0 performance issues since I have jailbroken my phone. Intelliscreen and running apps in the background WILL maybe slow things down. Anytime you run apps in the background you should expect some slowing(also depends on the app and number of apps)...but that's just common sense something ALLOT of people lack. If you are not running backgrounder once you hit the home key the app is closed and not using up resources on the phone.

I didn't jailbreak up until 3 weeks ago. I got bored, read the stickies on the hack boards and went to work. Quickpwn was cake took me about 20 mins. Again reading is good to do, you can find ALL your answers with a quick search.

Personally I think it is worth it. I have annoying people that try and call me or text me that I have no reason to talk to. (Yes crazy ex physco gf's). So iBlacklist worked great for me since At&T doesn't allow you to block numbers.

I jailbroke my phone just to see if I could do it and see what all the fuss was about.

My phone experienced all sorts of lockups and random crashes after I jailbroke. They would occur maybe 2-3 times a day. It just became an annoyance that I didn't want to deal with anymore.

I have to say there were some really cool apps and themes out there. My favorites were: Cycorder, Mxtube, Intelliscreen and Snapture. Also, an app called Pushr I think, that sent images directly to Flickr at original file size, was pretty cool.

I wanted to see what all the fuss was concerning the NES games. I tried it and after about 15 minutes it got old. I don't mean to slight the guys who worked hard on porting that over to the Iphone. I guess the way to explain it, for me, is that the IDEA of playing all my old childhood Nintendo games on my new smartphone ended up being much cooler than actually playing them.

I tried a couple of themes and that was cool, but got old.

It was really cool to be able to look around in the file structure.
I'm an IT geek, so that was pretty useful to me.

In the end, I certainly don't regret having done it so I could see what it was all about, it's just not really worth it now, for me, in terms of stability.

Who knows, maybe your phone's jailbreak configuration will be rock solid and will not be subject to the instability.

If it is, great. Have fun.
