I too have exactly the same problem. I followed some advice from a different forum to log out of my Apple ID via settings and reboot although upon attempting to log back in to my apple ID I found I wasn't able to. No error messages or anything - just won't allow me. Again my partner runs her iphone on my ID and she can download apps without a problem. It just seems to be my device. When attempting to download a free app the "install app" and "free" buttons appear to overlap and very briefly flicker between the two. I don't recall changing my IOS version manually as I'm not actually sure how to. I'm not sure if a tweak I have downloaded may do so for me, but could anyone explain how to set my IOS back to the version it is supposed to be? I figure if I balls it all up I'll just have to restore my phone - again, it's not something I want to do but at the moment appears to be the only option for me.

Thanks in advance

The only way it would change is of you changed it yourself.

How does one go about changin it themselves, I don't recal doin so but over the past month I have done quite a bit with jailbreak tweaks and mods. It's only the past month that I've been experiencing these issues, I've been filtering off quite a few mods hoping to repair the damage done but no luck so far. I read something further up that can clear all jailbreak software except jailbreak and cydia, what is this program and what platform is required to run the program?

A Bing search got me this on the first page.

http://www.ijailbreak.com/how-to/fake-ios-firmware-version-ios-6/

Whoa! Bing! Is that your go-to default search engine? I've never known anyone to use it. I literally tried one search when it first launched. I have never tried it again.

Yep, I'm de-googling my life. After what I saw on Google Dashboard, I was like "I'm done". Also dumped my gmail acct and got a iCloud email address.

Safe mode didnt work - I couldn't sign into my apple ID via settings and i haven't changed my ios as I'd remember taking those steps from the bing search. Back to being clueless :-(

Update:

Also I just attempted to sign in via the front page of the App Store, chose existing ID, it came up with the e-mail/password box and then closed again after about half a second.

Update:

Just tried ilex rat restore 1 and no change except I can't even open the App Store now lol, just force closes before loading - going from bad to worse.

Try option 2.

I have before. Works good. You loose every thing though. Make a back up.

I don't have a properly working laptop to be able to make a back up, that's next on my list of things to fix :3 I wouldn't see it making much difference though, that will just clear my data which I doubt would be affecting the App Store. I'll keep searching and see if I can come up with anything else. If needs be I'll have to factory reset my phone and re-jailbreak. I won't have to update to the latest IOS though will I?

You can't jailbreak again if you restore. Only option is option 2 and keep the jailbreak.

If you restore you will no longer have 6.1.2. You also cannot downgrade.

Wait.. What phone are you
using?

I'm using iPhone 4 currently IOS 6.0.1. I've often read that you can revert back to an earlier version of IOS. If I can't revert back then I'm facing losing my jailbreak until they upgrade the jailbroken software.

It's getting harder an harder to find information, Facebook won't update via the app, YouTube videos won't play via the app even candy crush won't connect to Facebook, starting to feel like being without jailbreak isn't the worst case scenario.

Well in that case, restore to 6.1.3 and use redsnow to jailbreak.

Unless you have full valid shsh/blobs you cannot restore to anyting but 6.1.3

However 6.1.3 has a thethered JB on 6.1.3

Yeah I just read about the blobs, didnt realise I needed those which is a shame, what exactly is tethered? I've always been untethered. I suppose a tethered jailbreak is better than none at all, I'll get to work on it in the morning.

Thanks for all your help and info guys

Jailbreak messed up Apple ID?

Tethered means any time you need to reboot you need to be connected to mac/pc.

Its workable though and indeed better than no JB!

Does that include if your battery dies?

Just read the tethered info, sounds workable as my battery rarely dies. Looks like that may be the next step as long as resetting the phone works.

Yes, or when installing some Cydia apps/tweaks, most only need a respring which doesn't require a tethered boot.

Idk if people are still here lol. My mom gave me an iPhone 5s that a friend gave her but was outdated. It was still running iOS 9. I plugged it into my MacBook and updated it. This same thing just started to happen to my iPhone 5s. I just jailbroke it yesterday 1/15/20. I did it just to test the wateRa. I’ve just added simple tweaks: Zeppelin, Cylinder, HideLabels MImport and Safari Plus. I used Chekra1n to jailbreak the iPhone. It’s running iOS 12.4.4. I just tried signing out of iCloud and back in. Can’t use iMessage/FaceTime and the App Store. I mostly wanted to use it as an iPod anyways, but it sucks not being able to download any apps nor message anyone. The iPhone has no cellular service. At least I can import music straight to Apple Music. I remember the same thing happened to my iPod Touch 4th gen. years ago. I was thinking on jailbreaking my iPad but now I don’t want to anymore :/
