did you not read any comment other than the one you quoted? ya I'm paranoid to do it, but if people give good enough reasons to do it, then I might look at the opportunity costs of doing it and if doing it seems smarter than not doing it, I would jailbreak. but so far, no one has given a good enough reason to do it, IMO. all that has come from this is people insulting me and getting offended because I wasn't sure about jailbreaking before this thread was started

Okay, ponder on this before you decide anything okay?

First, do you own or will you own a 3gS iphone? If your answer is no, than stop reading right now! With a 3G phone you do NOT want to JB it. It just does not have the memory to keep even TWO apps open at the same time.

Now, with the 3GS its a whole different story. The 3gS is a monster at MULTITASKING! What? You dont care about multitasking? Than stop reading right now! If you do care look what can be done.

- Your listening to pandora or slacker, you get a sms, you hit on reply, but guess what? You respond and your music is still playing! Now you want to check the iphone forums to see who replied to your post. You start reading the web and the music still coming through. You get another sms, you do the same as before. Now your tired of surfing the web, you want to check for some apps, you find one and download. You go look for more BUT the app store app NEVER closed! So it opens up in a blink of an eye.

- Now you want to skip a song you dont like, you double press the home button and a list of ALL OPEN APPS YOU WANT TO KEEP OPEN pops up. You click on pandora and do your thing and than double click the home button again and you choose the app store. Now you want to send an email to someone so you double click the home button again and click on the email icon. Your half way through your email and you want to make a call. You go to the phone app, place the call, pandora stops, you finish the call so pandora starts playing again. You double click the home button and you go and finish your email.

If you ever owned or played with the palm pre, you know how cool it is to switch from one open app to the next! Well, now you can do this with JB and a free app at the cydia store! The iphone 3 gS will NOT ever slow down while you do all these things, its awsome!

Also, theres a app that lets you do this:

- change your brightness settings, 3g to edge, turn on or off your wifi and bluetooth, turn off locations, write a note without even exiting the app your on! All this without EVER having to close the app your on and having to go to the default settings! Just swipe your finger at the top middle and the list comes down and you do what you want!

- Also I love an app that lets me show clips from youtube with wifi quality. Without JB I have to show my expensive toy with garbage quality even if Im in 3G coverage. I can even download my favs youtube clips and save and keep them.

Boy, I can go on and on, but I HOPE you get the point! Dont knock it till you TRY IT! I use to think JB was stupid and a waste of time, until I actually did it. Now I will always do it, I HATE the iphone without JB, hate that I have to close one app to open another. HATE that I have to go to settings for any changes I need and want to do. Hate that I have to stop streaming to write an sms and than have to open pandora which takes a while. HATE that after I open pandora again I get the sms with a reply and have to shut down pandora again and go reply than open pandora AGAIN... get the point?

Hope this helps you!

finally, someone who actually cared about the post instead of criticizing me. you convinced me so i'll at least try it. but if it messes up my phone, i'm blaming you. lol

its undectable to Apple until it breaks your iPhone. that was why I started the thread, for a reason that would make it worth potentially ruining the phone

And how would it break your phone? Also, if you can't turn it on and, then the genius won't be able to either, and so you will just get a replacement. Any "bricked" (and I use that loosely as I have never heard of a bricked iPhone due to jailbreaking) can simply be put in DFU mode and restored

#01 Now you can with 3GS
#02 You cannot unlock an iPhone 3GS yet.
#03 [app]iDownload[/app]
#04 Check this out: http://www.fonicon.com/
#05 Who would like to hide apps ?
#06 Resource hog
#07 Multitasking is going to be introduced maybe on the next firmware update.
#08 Same as 7
#09 Almost all app works with both 3G and WiFi like [app]Jaadu[/app] and [app]LogMeIm[/app].
#10 It makes your iPhone cluttered.
#11 Wich makes your iPhone cluttered of icons.
#12 [app]myVideos[/app]

1) What about those people locked into contract or who don't the expense of a 3GS? Also, I believe the video recording is better on the 3G in terms of framerates
2) Wrong, yes you can, just not on 3.1, and that is because it isn't jailbroken yet. Once it can be pwned, and the baseband not updated, bam, instand software unlock
3) That costs money. Why pay when you can have it for free?
4) Used that for about 30 seconds, then got bored and annoying. Its good, but nothing special
5)Not me, but some people do, and the important thing here is choice
6) As above
7) You know this for certain? 100%? What's that, No?! Yeh, thought so
8) Same as 7
9) What about Slingbox? That is locked to wi-fi only. Jailbreaking removes this limitation. And if you say it's to protect the network, then how come other devices can do this?
10) It might add "clutter" but I for any appreciate being able to see what I've got at a single glance
11) As above. I like to able to get to my most used apps quickly. Just turns out I have 5
12) The reviews would suggest that it doesn't work atm. And it costs money

And Finally, the it comes down to choice. Some people don't like being tied to a certain carrier, especially if they have had a bad experince. Some people don't like being locked out of a device when they have just spent a lot of money. Some people like to personalise what they own. It's simple really.

finally, someone who actually cared about the post instead of criticizing me. you convinced me so i'll at least try it. but if it messes up my phone, i'm blaming you. lol

If you would have checked that link I provided it would have told you the same thing.
