I agree. I'm a fan of 24 and those "we're going to expose the government" type of shows, but that is not what I tune in to see Jericho for. I want to see all the characters and how they are cooping with the attacks and having to work together to survive.

I don't know if you're already familiar with it but there was an excellent UK show in the 70s called "Survivors" (I know, I know - it wasn't a reality show, trust me!) about life after a catastrophic event.

If you're into survival drama and season 1 Jericho, I highly recommend it.

I know it's available on DVD in the UK. I think it's being released domestically at some point. There were five or six seasons.

One of my favorite shows ever...

Yes the time slot totally SUCKS, but maybe they (CBS) won't close out the show in the last of this seasons episodes and another station will pick it up and do the show some justice.

This show is the only show in MANY years that I have actually looked forward to watching the next episode within minutes of the end of current episode.

yeah, the time slot has been cbs' worse spot for years, with many shows going under. i said earlier in this thread that cbs is trying to sabotage the show and only doing this because of demand from the nuts petition. but the good news is that if it does get cancelled, it will have some sort of ending this time as the writers wrote two endings, one to end the show, and one if the show were to continue.

i feel the same way about watching the show, i want to get straight to the next one, it's a very addicting show.

I'm not liking the tone of this season. I feel like the first season was more character and character connection driven while this season is all plot driven. There is no "survival" factor of this season, they fixed all those problems way too quick in the first episode.

I do like the Robert Hawkins/Government part of the story, but I liked how it was the sub plot of the first season and not the main one like it is now. I will watch and finish this season but if this it the way they want to go with the show, I won't be that upset if it is done after these 7 episodes.

Yeah, that's what I said further up when I was reviewing the first three episodes - there's very little survival story anymore but now a lot of alternative history, "24" type stuff.

Though I preferred the former as a genre, I don't mind the way they're executing the latter.

I think part of the trouble, besides the awful time slot, is that they've already turned off the core audience that would be into this season's story-line with the whole different vibe the show had last season. Most people who'd love the spy/terrorist/killing/bloodshed/gunfire of season 2 will never give it a chance because they remember the male bonding/crying/flirting/Ma Green/people hugging in the rain of season 1...

i preferred the first season better. too much 24 in the show now, and the town seems too stable. i would have liked it if there was still some problems with survival (and there could be one next week) and the such instead of a government conspiracy being the main issue (i thought it could be a great subplot). but i'm thinking this is partly due to the short season that they had to cut out alot of development and focus straight to the plot. the reason jericho was intriguing in the first place was because of the survival factor and trying to establish their own society. i thought the first part of the season could have focused more on the time right after the new bern war to see how things would be going there. but i have a feeling the network wanted the show to fit more like their other shows and be more crime ish drama instead of seeing a town trying to make it on their own. i'm still watching, but season two isn't as great as the first, and i hope it's good enough to get a season three.

As long as I don't confuse it with "Survivor". I can't stand that reality show.

But I will look into that show and see if I can find a copy of the first season.

here's the wiki for survivors.

Season 2 is so far MUCH BETTER! The pacing has gotten so much faster. More action, less trivial drama. The whole sign language scene seemed like a throw back to last season, but I think they're just prepping story lines for future episodes about Cheyenne. I wished they hadn't glazed over the New Bern story line, but I don't think we're done with that town just yet.

That Survivor series sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.

The ratings really weren't that awful, this past Tuesday's come out on Thursday's. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Anyone think Hawkins is going to team up with the Major and they're gonna have a shoot em up in Cheyenne?

I personally was glad to see the return of that bald-headed SOB. You know, the one who'd been trying so desperately to locate Hawkins? He loomed large in the season finale last year, and then for a while it seemed they'd forgotten about him.

after four shows, the verdict is in for me, season one was much better than this one. this feels more like 24/csi (insert crime drama here): western kansas edition than it does jericho. too much conspiracy talk and the such this year, and i think it was a bad idea restoring order at the start of season two instead of having them restore order themselves. it's gotten into the formula used for many cbs shows, especially their crime shows. last year, jericho had that a bit, but it wasn't as prevalent as it is now. jake green is turning into jack bauer fast...

and shocked that bonnie was dead instead of mimi, seeing that mimi looked more likely to be fatally wounded from the fight. i was expecting mimi dead and bonnie taken to the hospital instead of the other way around.

I do agree that Jake is turning into Jack Bauer. I think the show decided to pick a direction and it went with the conspiracy plot and not the survival one. I wish it would have gone the other way, but I think the show has done a lot to improve itself overall. Bonnie getting shot was just the first surprise they must have in store for the final three eps. That was totally out of left field. She even took down 3 J&R guys before it was over. If they have the deaf girl go down in a blaze of glory, the next action should be non-stop.

Maybe another show in another season or so will fill the survival story line many of us want to see...

I'm late to this show, and am still trying to catch up on season 1 reruns on sci-fi. Still trying to figure out names of some characters, as they seem to assume that you know who everyone is.

I was shocked about Bonnie dying. However, I pretty much figured that she'd end up dying as soon as she started shooting. I was surprised that the main J&R guy didn't finish off Mimi, except that he may not have seen her before she got to the pantry. I thought they both were going to die.

I was also shocked by the relevation of the fact that J&R seems to have played a part in the attacks. Probably shouldn't have been, but like I said, I still haven't seen all of season 1. Next week ought to be good.... Very short, intense, season. Nice way to pass the time while waiting for BSG to come back on...

I'm in the same camp. While I do enjoy these conspiracy shows, I got into Jericho because it was a survival show, showing how people would work together to survive.

Either way, I did enjoy last nights episode a lot.

The season started slow, but now its picking up steam!

A little sad to see Bonnie go down in a blaze of glory, but this seems to be the spark of the revolution. Exposing corruption that will ultimately lead to the exposure of the big picture.

I don't see how the story line can go much further down this path though...

No one picked up the discussion this week.

I liked this weeks episode, I thought it brought back a bit of last seasons style in that the town/community came together to solve the situation.

I thought the scene where Stanley was signing to Bonnie was brilliant and seemed genuine and what a brother would say to his sister.

Only part I didn't like was the near the end when Ravenwood took the guns and soldiers but left those guys. I would have thought they would have also taken those guys because they broke the law and put them in Jail, not just fire them.

Just 2 more episodes left.

I hope it goes somewhere. I'm afraid they're going to cancel the show.

yup...

for some reason, i've lost some interest in the show, i thought that last show was more 24-ish and it lost whatever jericho-ness it had left. it's too bad. but i'll watch the last two shows just to see how it ends even though i didn't like the direction it took at all.

Oh man, I hope it's not the last two shows. But you're probably right. Late start + lack of promotion + higher ratings that never materialized = Very probable cancellation.

Be nice if Sci-Fi picked it up. It's not like it's such an expensive, effects-laden show to produce, you know?

And having lived through Lost in Space, The Time Tunnel, Nowhere Man, The X Files and a host of other shows, I am sick to death of series that end with no conclusion, leaving the characters hanging.

the show is going to have an ending (they made two endings, one for if the series ended and one if it didn't), so even though we're not likely to see a season 3, it will wrap up the series in a decent way without leaving people hanging too much.

i would like to see sci-fi pick it up, as long as it doesn't go further into this 24 type nonsense as it's main plot, that turned me off a bit.

i'm the same here, i got tired of tv shows getting cancelled too early, thus why i barley watch much in the way of new tv (moreso network tv, cable tends to do this less often), as it has just gotten worse.

I think they mentioned earlier in the previous episode that Ravenwood is more concerned about money than upholding the law. Can't remember the exact quote, but it was said that Ravenwood does nothing when people get killed, but if someone steals from them, look out.

Can't believe there are only two more episodes left in the season.

I just don't see how they can wrap up the series in two more episodes. That is only 82 minutes! There are a lot of loose ends. I also notice that during the commercials they say THE FINAL TWO EPISODES OF THE SEASON!!! instead of the final two episodes of the SERIES. Gives me hope that there is more to come.

i didn't see the whole episode, and i missed the part about the solider's role in the bombings and why he did it. can someone explain please?

and btw, i still think the show went the wrong way by focusing too much on this anti-goverment thing here, despite how intriguing it just got at the very end of today's episode. it picked up too late i think, and i think we see the last of jericho next week. :(

I think we are seeing the series finale as well next week.

Bomb is on its way, Jake saves the day becomes president  :D

I doesn't seem likely that next weeks episode will satisfy anyone. Bring on Season 3! LOL

Not sure what soldier you're refferring to? I saw the ep so if you clarify, I'll do my best to explain.

If you're talking about the mystery guy on the phone... It seems he's the one who caused the attacks. Not sure if he's the head of Jennings and Rawl or just a nut who wants to rid America of it's government. I think it'll be a pretty wierd ending if just one man was responsible for wiping out 23 cities on his own. From what he's saying, there's no conspiracy. Not sure I'll be able to swallow that explanation if it comes...

Let me know if this is what you're reffering to or not.

yeah, that's what i was talking about. thanks for clearing that up. but it is kinda odd that he wasn't just the head of the sector as hawkins refers to in that one show last year. i think everything was a bit rushed this year and i didn't like the way the show went. i'll still pay attention to how the show ends.

story

It's officially been cancelled. Last ep coming up. CBS did say that though this ep will signify it's end, they still leave the door slightly ajar for another network to pick it up. No amount of nuts is gonna help us this time. C'mon Sci-Fi!

some thoughts from the tv blogs.

i would love for sci-fi to get the show back, as long as it is geared closer to season one than the mediocre season this one turned out to be. i lose more and more faith in tv networks everyday...no wonder most young people would rather play video games than watch tv shows that get canned.

I wonder what reality TV show they'll replace it with...

Seriously sick of network TV.
