Never keen on doubling my move goal. At least it’s not everyday!

I will not achieve my June challenge of closing my exercise ring 28 times. There are four Sundays in June, and as Sunday is my rest day, there are only 26 opportunities for me in June to close my exercise ring. I always stick to my rest day schedule regardless of the arbitrary challenges issued by the workout app that is so brain-dead that it does not understand the simple concept of a rest day. it is really rather mindboggling.

Yep, same here. Fridays are my rest days. I stick to that pretty strictly even if it means missing a challenge. I don't understand why Apple will not acknowledge rest days. That's unhealthy.

Mine is burn 19,700 calories.

Which is about 656 calories a day. Which is essentially doubling my move goal (330) every day this month.

(Last month, my May challenge was "double your move goal 7 times". So that's quite the incremental jump there...)

Admittedly I love to walk, and that's my main exercise. But I really hate to turn it into a job. How much I walk depends on a lot of factors. Right now I'm sick, and slogging for a mile with my dog — who has to have a walk to take care of business — is about all I can handle. Not looking to make this challenge or have a perfect month in June.

I hear a lot of people complaining about not getting rest days etc with these challenges. I too don’t tend to run as often at the weekends, but I just change my exercise. Unless the weather is crap, I tend to do an outdoor walk at the weekends which helps with exercise minutes and move goal/distance targets.
That said as I’m on double my move goal, I’m doing running and walking this weekend!

Same thing here. Close my exercise ring 30 times this month? No.

I agree with you on that one - Apple system for challenges does not consider recovery or rest days. It is like GO GO GO. For this reason I kind of use it my own way. First I set rather low Move goal (just 360 calories). Second I check the challenges and if I find them meaningful I will do them, if not I ignore them. Third I actually use an app called Athlytic to daily check my Recovery and advised exertion range based on said recovery. The app is subscription based and in general I avoid those, but the price for the is less compared to if I have to pay for going to the gym or consult with instructor there so I decided to try it out.

Anyway that being said I think that the rings can be closed every day and still have your rest days. First there are two types of recovery - passive and active. Passive is obviously doing nothing. Active is doing low intensity training that does not lead to elevated heart rate or muscles exhaustion. For example casual walking for me is kind of active recovery. Another one is waist hooping. Some people use yoga/tai chi but I do not have the patience or flexibility for that. You can also change your goals daily and you can change your ring goals to something doable in rest days.

Of course you can also say to Apple screw you, not gonna follow up that challenge. I only offered some ideas/alternatives.

And talking about challenge I might not meet:

I work from home and during the week it is impossible for me to burn 720 calories a day and this is what I need to do to get this badge.

I can technically change my Move goal to something lower that I can easily double but I am not sure that this makes sense. Then it won't be challenge. I might try to do it during the weekends where I walk/move more and thus burn more calories.
