WTF Apple........ Not even a word.... Are those 'other' people shipping the new workstations yet? If there is no update by June 17th, which Windows box do you see yourself getting?

Based on my experiences with windows machines, if Apple doesn't release new iMacs by June.....of 2015, I will be forced to buy a windows computer.

Tbh, to get 2x the rendering speed pf my 2008 8core 3.2 I've considered buying the current 12 core 2.66, but not at the same prices as in 2010!!

From the point of view of the best CPU and gfx options, I've considered a few bto pc workstations lately, but I am obviously still w-a-I-t-I-n-g for some grain of info on updated mps before I decide to suffer Windows and have to re acquire all my software... :/

I know I really wish there was some leaks by now. I sold my old iMac and I really need a computer because this air is not doing it for me. My dream mac pro was a 6 core and I am really tempted to pick up a refurb one

I don't think you're going to have to wait much longer. I've held the WWDC2012 view for quit a while.

Dear Mac Users

We have a new Mac Pro on the way so don't buy our current models. Dont worry about us, we are making enough money.

We will donate current stock to charity.

Thanks Bye :3

Operative word being "current". That is current 2 years ago.

And yet still current today.

Current doesn't have an expiration date. It's only not current when there is something newer. Until new Xeons are actually shipping, it's current.

Edit: And even if we say that it's no longer current once the new Xeons are released, that means the Mac Pro has been what, not current for a few weeks?

Oh no. Quick. Everyone switch to Windows. This is a real emergency worthy of a million threads.

Whatever. It's old to me. I've had it since day one (2 years ago) and I have no intention of switching to windows even if the kill the MP. But a little noise about the MP won't hurt anyone.

It's old to you != it's not current.

Actually, for those of us who cannot run Lion, (I have G5 Quad ...), we cannot upgrade to iCloud (please don't start a rant on whether iCloud is an upgrade or not ...), so we need a new machine. I see little point in buying the iMacs or MacPros on offer right now since new ones are likely, though not certainly, right around the corner. And it's not clear what minimum configuration Mountain Lion will require soon.

So I guess I could run Lion on an iBook that barely qualifies, and get to it only from the web on my G5 Quad and lose all sync from it, or buy a Windoze machine with Win 7 and then use iCloud ... hmmmm ... which benefits Apple more?

I don't know, you've had since the release of Lion to upgrade, and nothing is stopping you from upgrading now. Your G5 is already 6 years old. Am I supposed to feel bad about this?

You making a voluntary choice not to upgrade is in no way Apple's fault or worthy of this angst. Considering how old your machine is, I don't think waiting for the new Mac Pros is a life or death sort of situation.

To be perfectly honest, if you've been fine working on a Quad G5, I doubt you're the sort of person who is even going to notice the difference on the new Xeons. If speed was all that important, you would have upgraded long ago.

Threatening to move to windows isn't going to make the mac pro come out faster. Just sounds childish like telling your mum your going to run away from home if she doesnt buy you something :D

I wish it were 70 threads. They make me feel 1% better. Seriously, it really can't hurt. If there were no threads I'd be worried. Apple is being pretty scummy on this. They must know everyone is worried and anxious. They could get going on an announcement if they wanted to.

I think anyone at this time that needs roadmaps and confirmations from a computer supplier, yet still goes with one that is notoriusly secretive hasn't really thought things through.

Sounds tempting - what is the preferred os for the workstations? windows 7? I guess if i get to know the os well, windows might not be too frightening

Yep. They typically come with Windows 7 Professional. Which is what you'll most likely want. It's a fantastic OS.

For all we know they are preparing for a release as we speak. WWDC is coming up ya know......

In all likelyhood, the decision has already been made and timing has already been decided. Making more threads changes absolutely nothing.

Very false

Blizzard releases games for both Windows and MacOsX (WoW, Starcraft II, Diablo II, Diablo III) and some other gaming majors are starting to follow...

I'm not really into gaming, but you should consider that you just used one of the most mass market gaming companies out there for your example. It probably makes more sense to release on the Mac side when the target audience is that huge.

That aside, I can assure you most definitely, that Apple has people that read MacRumors.

It's one of the best sources of free and easy access to consumer opinions on the net.

I'm some people at Apple read it.

But I highly doubt they use it as real input into product decisions.

Also, I'm pretty sure there are very firm rules at Apple about spending too much time on rumor sites, for obvious reasons.

And again, any decisions will have already been made by now.

Well, I am still waiting patiently. If things don't happen by July, then I shall have to consider an *gasp, shock, horror" iMac.

Why? The current iMacs are competitive with a 4 core Mac Pro, but not a 6 core.

Respectfully... I didn't mean "just any employee" at Apple reads it. Of course many of the employees being enthusiasts like us will read it.

What I did mean, is that if Apple is like any other serious competitor that sells to the public, they have designated people that scan sites for feedback. While you may be in denial that it happens, I highly doubt that Apple ignores everything it's customers have to say.

Make no mistake, I'm not saying Apple gets ideas from customers, but they do read about how the product is doing in the field. In the hands of the customers that use Apple's various products.

Finally, as a long time Apple customer, I am aware that some execs at Apple think they are so far superior to any of the other human beings on earth... that they can ignore everyone and simply push out the product they design.

It's good to be Apple, in their minds they know it all, they are never wrong, and they've brainwashed enough fanboys to back it up :) :) :)

The problem with buying a PC workstation is the investment in Mac Software that many have. Not only is it buying expensive new hardware, but purchasing/trying to get license transfers for thousands of dollars worth of software. It's not like it's just an inconvenience thing either. A lot of workflows rely on Mac-specific software that transitioning from can result in loss of productivity, and by extension, money.

Personally I refuse to buy software that restricts me to a single platform unless it has a very low price point.
You need to maintain some workflow flexibility to avoid extinction!

AFAIC, it depends on what you call "restricts".

For example, do I really care what the software is, so long as it allows me to store my data in an easily transportable format (layman's analogy: a photo in JPEG)?
