"Apple will be just another smartphone company unless iPhone becomes an industry leading standard in the next one hundred days."

Sound familiar?

So the S3 gets the number 1 slot for what? 1 month?

Cause we all know who will be number 1 this month and going forward.

The increased sales volume of the Galaxy S III is very significant, and cannot be denied.

Why?

There's well over 50 other Android phones that count & take away "Android" sales from the SGS III when that category is reported.

To those who use the excuse "the one year old" iPhone 4S, haven't a clue.

Facts are the US market was the last to get the SGS III, the actual release date was just 23 days after the release of iPhone 4S. Therefore they're the same age.

In _no way_ am I advocating for Android or Samsung. I'm an Apple loyalist & shareholder of over twenty years. Yet if Apple exaggerates or fails to live up to what I _know_ they're capable of, I don't hesitate to speak out.

Just like when I'm asked for a laptop suggestion I always point people to Apple. I've converted loads of PC users to Macs. It's the best their is.

Surprising? Nobody with half a brain would buy a 4S in the month(s) leading up to the new iPhone release. Two-year contracts and coming price cuts just may have something to do with it.

The GS3 did not come out 23 days after the 4S.

Maybe you're thinking of the 2?

Yeah, this is stupid and means nothing. iPhone sales always drop before a new model launches.

Sure but it probably also says that the imminent launch of the new iPhone has not affected the sales of the Galaxy SIII. Hmmm...

No. You're wrong on this point. It came out starting in late May of this year.

They will never compete then because of their release dates.

Samsung isn't stupid. You don't stand directly in front of a heavy hitter.

Samsung launched the GS2 a month before iPhone 4S in the USA and got annihilated.

There is a reason they cut the USA lifecycle of the GS2 down to about 7 months; they wanted to launch the GS3 without iPhone 5 wrecking the party.

A month to a limelight is what Samsung will get at best. I'll call it now and say Apple will sell more iPhone 5's in one month than Samsung has sold GS3's ever.

The new iPhone will hold that record on every carrier for the next 11 months. Samsung and the like didn't even hold press conferences for new products before apple they copied that as well. now they have a release schedule down to a tee. release a month before the new iphone every year to even have a chance.

Right, because Apple no doubt has given Samsung a detailed release schedule of their products

It is funny how so many think that the entire mobile industry revolves around the iPhone, that HTC, Samsung, Sony et all are perfectly coordinated to release their phones right before the iPhone launches in order to have a chance at grabbing some sales.

Please...

I really hoping Apple mixes it up next year and drops iPhone 5S right on top of the GSIV's American release date and wrecks Samsung's USA smartphone ambitions all the way up until summer 2014.

This seems likely to me too. We're already getting a new iPhone after 11 months this year, and Apple could move this up to 9 or 10 months next year for the cycle.

You delusional if you think they don't. Did we have a release schedule? no but we figured it out now didn't we. they dont need the day they knew it would be sept-oct so they aimed to launch that phone towards the end of the 4S hype and before the new iPhone was available. If we learned anything from the Apple-Samsung trial its that the iPhone really is the center of the phone universe.....atleast to Samsung.
