I got the RAM! ...actually I got and installed the RAM a while ago now, but I've been running it to see if there was any noticeable difference. The sad truth is that no.. I didn't see any noticeable difference from the 8GB of RAM to the 16GB of RAM... but at least I can say that I have a iMac with 16GB of RAM and people will swoon! ><

StarCraft still runs around the same FPS as before.

I can run more of my Adobe Suite programs at once without any problems (which is a good thing)

As far as Gaming goes - I think that when/if I get the spare change I will just invest in building a old-school gaming PC for the sole purpose of SC2 (lol)

Thanks for all the posts! :)

4GB of ram would run SC2 the same even. The only thing that would yield an FPS boost for a game would be either an upgraded CPU OR GPU depending on which was the bottleneck prior to upgrading. Weird analogy: Ram is just extra counter space in your kitchen. The more you have, the more food you can be preparing/have ready at once without having to put food up, just to take more food out of your pantry (the hard drive).

If SC2 doesn't even utilize over 2GB of ram itself, then going from 8GB to 16, as you've seen, will do nothing. In all reality, you probably weren't even pushing your system to utilize the 8GBs that were in the system unless you're doing some SERIOUS multitasking.

Hmmm... I never thought of that. I was referring to Windows itself. However, after a half-ass Google attempt it seems that an application in itself can only take advantage of 2GB. Never knew this...
In case anyone's wondering why this 2GB per application limit exists in 32-bit versions of Windows... it's because of a design decision that splits kernel space and user space. In UNIX-like systems (Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, etc.) user space and kernel space are not split in this way. Of course, things like Intel's decision to use Memory-Mapped I/O doesn't help matters any.
