The 8+ has a 5.5 inch screen. X has a 5.8 inch screen. The X and XS have a larger screen with a smaller form factor.
The diagonal isn't representative due to the different aspect. In terms of area, they're just about the same (the iPhone 8 plus is actually just a very little bit larger). If you are viewing any 16:9 content on the X though, it works out to be an approximately 5" screen in effect.

Well I purchased from a store called JBHIFI in Australia because Apple no longer sells new X's. Do you think its a good buy in 2019? because Apple is still selling iPhones 7's

The main difference for me was FID2 is way better, i didn't like it on my X. Nothing you can do anyway if you have opened/used it as JB won't take it back unless something is wrong with it.

amazing people still don't get this, all they see is 5"8 v 5"5

We’ve reached a point of performance sufficiency. I would say a prior year phone for a good price is always the better buy now.

I have an iPhone X and there are no issues with it.

I love this phone. It is very fast and snappy. Battery life is working out fairly well for me too. No complaints. Get about a day based on my personal usage.

This indeed. Average consumers likely can’t differentiate the differences between the processor of the A11 versus the A12, not when phones are generally not majorly overhauled with the SoC on an annual basis. Even though there are some core advantages to the A12 has over the A11, it doesn’t really transpire much to the average consumer who uses their phone primarily for social media and light tasking.

You're forgetting that the screen of the X/XS is cornered and has a completely different resolution. The 8+ definitely gives you much more screen than the X/XS, and even XR could.

Hello!

I just bought an iPhone X 64gb for a good price. Do you think it was worth it considering its 2019. The device seems so fast compared to my old Samsung device. I love the phone but apple just makes me feel like it was a wrong choice because they say how much better the XS is.

What are your thoughts?

You will regret it. The best indication for this is your post and asking the question ...

The bezels are massive. They were huge when introduced with the 6+ in 2014. In 2019 they just look absolutely ridiculous compared to modern hardware. Why wouldn't you want that space to be used by glass so it gives a larger display for the user? You are stuck in the past if you honestly think dated tired hardware designs of the 8+ beats the X/Xs.

TouchID is in no way superior to FaceID. You only have to have moisture on your fingers and it just won't work! TouchID was consistently useless when trying to unlock my device in the gym for example. FaceID not only 'just works', it just works always.

It’s about preference, and I prefer Touch ID. I have an iPhone XR now and early in the morning it won’t read my sleepy face. So there’s pros and cons to both, and in the end, it’s all about the users preference.

If you bought from a private seller you will 1000% regret it. If you bought NIB you’ll love it as it’s an amazing phone.

I have an X 256gb since December 2017. I cannot fathom why someone would want to upgrade to the XS. I thought about the bokeh slider, but I installed that on my X through a tweak and found it to be completely useless. To me, at least.

Who cares what we think? It's your device, so make up your own mind & decide.

Terrible advice. 6/7/8+ looks hideously dated, especially with those giant top & bottom bezels. FaceID is superior tech to TouchID as well.
Your opinion. Some people need to unlock their phones in the dark or real fast without holding it up to their face. No fingerprint scanner is the sole deal breaker for me.
And being as this whole "no bezel" crap started last year I think your definition of dated needs some adjustment. I personally could care less about screen bezels.

FaceID works in the dark and it pretty fast.

If a thread needs to be made questioning your purchase decision...you may regret your purchase.

I upgraded to the XS from the X and still regret it to this day. The X was a perfect phone for me.

I think you made a good choice.

Sounds like you're trying to convince me to change my opinion. You havem't, sorry.

I got my Iphone X from my Bro for cheap so I'm very happy with mine. I feel like it's the best Smartphone I've had ever. Battery life has been the best I've ever seen compared the Samsung phones I've had previously, S6, S7, S9.

A 5" square is able to show more content than a 5" rectangle. The 8+ has a wider proportion and thus has a bigger surface area.

Hi, I would like to buy a new iPhone. I am intrested in the iPhone X. Do I make a mistake? I want performance and don’t want problems with high graphics games. Will iPhone X suffice on modern games or the X is weak.
