I just purchased a Macbook yesterday, and was wondering if Apple will let me exchange it for the same model but at a lower price? I bought the mid-range white one with 2.ghz and 1gb ram.

i did this with the high-end macbook black... stock.

when the store went back up, i checked my order status and it had been upgraded to the faster processor and better HD

Even if you don't manage, know that you're not missing out on all that much. You'll get at best a .16 processor speed bump and prettty much no other discernable features. By all means try, but if it doesn't work out, you can be happy with the computer that you've got.

I beg to differ, you get a faster processor, more RAM and more HD!!!! It is a big deal!

If you haven't received it yet, you'll get the new one. I have never heard of anyone receiving the older model after a new model was announced.

Slightly faster processor and a slightly bigger HD. Unless you bought the cheapest MacBook model; the 1099 one got more RAM, the 1299 and 1499 models stayed the same.

I have a Core Duo MacBook; I've upgraded it with 2 GB RAM and a 160 GB hard drive, so it's STILL better than the $1499 MacBook except in terms of processing speed. I'm fine with that. :)

I purchased mine in a store. I don't want to upgrade to the faster processor, I am just mad that the computer I paid 1299 for yesterday is now selling for 1099. I just want to see if Apple will refund me the difference?

Do you think this is likely?

I believe there is a clause saying that if there's any price change within 14 days of your purchase then you can fill up a form and claim the difference. It's under the sales terms and conditions...

I bought mine 16 days ago... shucks.... :(

Those ****ers at Apple need to let people know ahead of time when they are about to update there computers.

Apple are a business. If they tell everyone 2 months before new products are released they'll have 2 months of zero sales.

You don't get the point do you? I don't think it's fair to some people who recently bought a macbook (2-3 month period)

You bought a product for a price you thought was fair, and now that there is a new one out, you don't think it's fair??? Are you daft or just stupid? Hmmm, I bought a car 3 years ago, but now they have a new one out...those bastards...I hate them, anyone who thinks that's the way it should be is just a car fanboy.

price protection

If you purchased it in a store, they might have a price protection policy. Just ask.

I'd call the store. I'm sure there is something they could do for you. I wouldn't expect to get the full $200 difference though, considering yours has a superdrive and the $1099 one does not.

my mb was farking up on me last week bad kernel panics and whatnot and apple called me today asked if i would like a replacement 2.16 black book i said sure!

So the updated macbooks aren't santa rosa are they? Because that would have meant upgraded graphics? So they are Macbook C2D Rev Bs. I have a Macbook C2D Rev A that is about a month old. lol Ah well.

PS. If you look on the UK site and click on the middle macbook and then look down the side where it has the configuration there are errors. It says 2.0 not 2.16 and combo not super.

If you purchased it in a store, can't you return it for no cost within a short period of time? like within two weeks? If so, you can just get a refund, and then buy the updated models.

I highly doubt that Apple will refund you though...

Mee too

I sympathise, ordered a white 2.0Ghz 80Gb 2Mb MacBook last week it is on its way to me but order does not show any update yet.

This is in the UK, any suggestions as to the best approach to either getting a refund / apple store vouchers from Apple for the difference?

John

P.S. Same spec price difference is c. £200 1 week later. If I buy the same model (Middle one + extra 1Gb RAM) then the difference is £30 cheaper 1 week later

Apple says my old order from last tuesday (shipped monday) w/ overnight shipping is the old model.

i'll confirm once it gets here on Thursday.

Ya, i am not happy w/ the shipping situation.
