Can you please tell me the default settings that Starcraft II set for your mac? I was interested in purchasing the quad-core i5 with the 5750 as an upgrade for my current old imac, and one of the biggest reasons is in order to play Starcraft, and it would suck if I wasn't able to play it at native resolution with at least all high, and hopefully ultra settings. Also, as another poster said, could you tell us the framerate you get during idle gameplay as well as very large battles (4v4s). Thanks!

Haha, I wanted to know this so badly that I joined these forums just to ask you this :p

+1 here too

I have a refurb one in shipping which I may cancel out to get the new gfx card so I can run scii on ultra. Please do share the win7 performance for this game on the i5!

Alonzo84 - I don't have any experience with the previous generation, unfortunately but from what you're telling me it sounds like the faster speed of the ram MIGHT make a difference, but I don't think that should be an incredibly huge factor, especially if you're going to save some money with the refurb. I really don't think you're going to be missing out on that much, to be honest. Also, I would highly recommend just doing the ram upgrade yourself. It's MUCH cheaper, and I'm sure you can read tutorials online on how to do it. I'm not tech savvy in the slightest but I've upgraded my ram a couple of times on my own without any problems. Just make sure you're grounded so static doesn't screw anything up!

Thanks for the reply.

Saving that cash would allow me to bump it up to 8GB of RAM right away and that is really looking like the way I want to go.

Given the software you have in your sig, an extra 4GB of RAM would make a much more substantial difference in performance than getting an i7.

GPU benchmarks on the Mac side are currently in a state of flux due to the new iMacs having updated drivers that haven't been pushed down to the 2009 iMacs yet. So currently, the new Radeons are showing a really substantial performance boost, but the degree of that performance increase might change once the old Macs get the new drivers.

EDIT: For a taste of what the new drivers might do, check out . Turns out that once the old iMacs get the new drivers, the Radeon in the 2010 27" offers only marginal improvements.
