Way to go and congratulations!
Welcome to the cult!

Make sure you set up Time Machine or some other consistent backup strategy as soon as possible :)
Data storage is always cheaper than data recovery

Other than that, have fun!

QFT!

Good luck with your new iMac. Like you I got one about a month or so ago, and so far loving it :D

Alright guys I got my iMac last night and I set it up!

The Good news:
No HDD noises, no other 'hardware' issues.
NO YELLOWING!!

The Bad news:
There's a slight horizontal bar of 'darkening' on the bottom of my screen. I wouldn't call it bruising because it's much more subtle.

There are two 'large' pieces of dust under my glass, and I dont know what to do about it.

For those wondering -- I'll get the Week of the iMac when I get off work.

Also new to the club

I also just got my first Mac, 21.5 inch imac with dual screen (second screen is a samsun T220)

So far I love it, it is taking some getting used to but I am enjoying it.

Any tips on essential apps or anything?

Dust under a new iMac screen is uncharacteristic. There's a good chance you may have a refurbished machine.

Could call Apple and see what they say about both? Let us know how you go!

My i7 has just gone to "Prepared for shipment". Hopefully that means it'll be here tomorrow!

Just got it all set up.
I'll prob. call Apple tomorrow about the "speck" under the glass.

To the Op, I have looked at the pictures you have posted and can tell that you are a clearly disturbed individual. No one who is sane has that clean of a desk.

j/k. :):D

Very nice set up. How is it to work on the 27" screen?

I am expectin mine tomorrow and i had ordered one since December.
I really want to see which week i will receive and if it will have yellow or the grey bar at the bottom.
I will let you know though....

Hi all new mac user too

I just bought a new Imac 21.5, I got it on Monday. It is the basic model, but I like it. The magic mouse is wonderful and the small keyboard is brilliant to use. I have to say its going to take me a while to get used to it. I have only ever used PCs before. The Iphone 3GS was the thing that got me into Apple components. Then I started to use Safari as my browser. Now I am totally hooked. Finally I have come out of the closet and shouted loud and proud. I LOVE MY MAC>:D

So it arrived today. The first thing I see when I turn it on is the yellow tinge :(

Posted a picture in the yellow tinge forum for anyone that wants to confirm it for me.

Sigh.
