Congrats Ashley,
I've had mine for a week now and love it to death, haven't touched my Dell 17" Studio laptop since lol... This iPad is awesome.. Went to Boston for 4 day weekend and wife used it all the way up and back(4 hour ride) and home and At the hotel it was the perfect replacement to our laptops. Amazed at how many students from MIT, Harvard and BU were had them be it for school or just reading from iBooks..

Congrats.

I just bought mine today, and I totally love it! I was weary at first about having a iPhone 4, but this is so much nicer and easier to use at home for reading and surfing the web.

One thing i dont really enjoy is Screen--iPhone 4 user, best screen eva! iPad MEH kinda wish a Retina Display on ipad. other than that when iOS4 comes it will be perfect!

Why wait 6-7 months? i'll start school soon and need an eBook reader and a portable word processing machine.

I don't see a computer listed in your sig, but I'll bet you that that the iPad screen has sharper resolution than whatever computer you are using. Also, it's sharper than your HD television connected to your Apple TV, for that matter.

:)

I know you're not trying to reply to me but w/e.

TVs are different beasts altogether. They suggest that you sit a few feet away from your TV to watch it, but you probably sit with your iPad inches away (a foot at te most). A lower res screen is clearer the further you move away from it and more pixelated the closer you get to it.

As for computers- there are computers with higher res screens than the iPad. For example, my VAIO Z has a 13.1 inch screen @ full HD (1920x1080). 168 dpi, while the iPad is at 132 dpi.

There are a few desktop monitors (a ViewSonic being one) @ 200+ dpi as well.

I picked up mine too a few days ago and I absolutely love it. I'm still getting used having such a large touch screen but so far it's one of the coolest gadgets I have owned. Typing on it isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, and I actually like typing on it.

Love my new toy :)

No offense, but you should have waited for iPad 2. This is kind of the odd time to buy an iPad.

Right, wait an uncertain amount of time to buy a new model with unknown features. Makes a lot of sense.

Well, I've almost had my iPad for two weeks and still loving it! I am pretty annoyed at the Apple case as it always looks filthy, bit it does get the job done. I have to admit, the only time I've used my laptop since buying the iPad was to sync my iPad or iPhone. If there was some way to wirelessly sync, I'd probably never use it again! I don't regret waiting for iPad 2, as I really just wanted it now. If I decide I need the new one, I can always sell this one anyway, but at this point, it's hard to even imagine what it would have that I'd be interested in. I don't need a camera on it, I already have an iPhone for FaceTime, as does my boyfriend, and we don't use it much, so even if iPad 2 has that ability, I won't need that. I assume iPad 2 will be faster, and have a sharper more Retina screen. I'm very satisfied with what I've got now!

Okay, so I have to share... I have two kids, ages 6 and 3. We have the Apple case as well... (I mean, just to check, the fold-over case, right?) Okay, so I had read about the terrible way these cases attract lint, dust, grime...

Anyway, after about two weeks with the iPad in its case -- and two weeks where the kids had pretty much full access, I noted that YES that case was looking natty. Now, miracle or not, I dunno but here goes: The kids had printed the cover with some greasy marks or something and for the heck of it, I just started rubbing the with the heel of my palm and -- seriously, over a brief period of time -- grease spots gone. Worked against lint and odd specks too!

So, then I visit my father in Pennsylvania.. He too had purchsed an iPad some months before and his case looked horrible. I said, "Dad, watch this..." I rubbed and rubbed. In some cases where there were these white specks, I took my finger nail to them and -- again, is it me? But his case was smooth and black again.

Our case today! looks fine! So, trying hard rubbing with the heal of your palm, stroking it fairly vigorously -- the marks should rub away.
Ours do. And the kids still have access to the iPad daily.

I bought an iPad last spring, but sold it. I found myself going to my laptop for more things. I'm not sure why, but a few days ago I got a wild hair up my caboose and started thinking about the iPad again. I bought another one last night to see if I still only wanted one for the novelty.

I'm singing a different tune this time around. I don't know what it is, but I enjoyed the iPad much more immensely last night than I remeber 6 months ago. I think it is a keeper this time around. I can barely function today at work, since I was up late playing with the new toy last night.

Why do some have to poopoo others enjoyment of a new device just b/c it wasn't something that they would chose to purchase at that exact moment?

Same here, although I've tried a couple cases and seem to have found a winner with the Yoobao leather Magic Slim case.. Not bulky, leather is nice and never seems to get dirty, screen is totally exposed for easy use and cleaning, style offers multiple horizontal options..
Like you I've spent little time on my laptop since buying my iPad.. Actually I didn't touch my laptop for the first week and when I did fire it up Windows 7 needed something like 30 updates!!! What a pain, I can see this eventually replacing my laptop completely...

Right, wait an uncertain amount of time to buy a new model with unknown features. Makes a lot of sense.

Time = March Next Year

Features = More/Better than current (unless u think the next one will have less than the current...)

Price = The Same (maybe slightly less)

Sense = Yes but not for u obviously.

Was in London today and picked mine up in the Apple Store. It's a fabulous device. I have an iMac and iPhone already but this has really moved the bar.

The screen is superb and I can't believe how fast it is. Everŷthing snaps.

Was really looking forward to the publishing potential and after downloading Pressreader, Zinio and the Kindle app it's blown me away. Love having the actual newspapers and magazines in your hand.

Love the way the Internet is on this device.

This is a great product.
