I have the iPhone 8 at&t 256GB version in space gray with AppleCare plus.

Regardless, I bought the iPhone X yesterday.

The first thing I’m thinking I should do is return the Apple care plus for my iPhone 8.

Then I need to sell it or something but how do I do this?

Like where should I sell it and how do I go about doing it so I can get the best price and not scammed?

Thanks

You can Also sell on the market place here on Macrumors. Lots of regular members on here and I think its a safer bet versus EBay.

why buy an x halfway through the product cycle if you already have an 8?

i can see buying an 8 halfway through because its the last of the breed and a phone like that will never be offered again, but buying an x this late in game just doesnt make sense to me personally since it isnt a need...?

It’s a crummy situation. Feel like I’ve wasted top dollar in a way.

But I need a good camera. Tried buying a standalone Canon camera. Wasn’t good IMO.

Any advice for eBay?

As already mentioned, RUN! I wonder people dropping "eBay" have actually attempted transact a latest-ish iPhone on eBay. Either bidders don't know what they are doing, or they are up to something and either way, hope you have lots of patience.

Know anything about swappa?

But I need a good camera.

Camera diff between the 2 that huge uh? well OK, I never question users why users do what they do, u know what you want.

If you do serious photography however, buying a dedicated tool usually makes more sense. Is like people buying a router with everything on it, may feel like convenient and budget-saving at first, but then every time you want to change one thing in it, you have to change the whole thing.

I haven't done serious photography for a while but I gotta think big-lens SLR, small (smartphone) lens, you gotta be giving up something.

In what way do you plan to use any camera? What do you want your final results to be? Snapshots, such as can be achieved with a Point-and-Shoot (P&S) camera or an iPhone camera? Or, are you striving for photos achieved after more serious thought and planning, the kind of images which usually come from a camera which is more than a P&S, such as a mirrorless camera or a DSLR? Do you already know how to use a "good camera"? Actually, what exactly is your definition of "a good camera"?

Idk I mean I took 4 pics with the canon and pretty much the same 4 pics with the iPhone X and the X looked nicer IMO. Less blurry, better color, etc.

You should know that the iPhone X’s camera is terrible in low light photos, worse than the iPhone 8. I don’t know if that matters to you. Also, if you’re located in the U.S., you could sell the 8 at GameStop. They give you cash and there’s no need to ship off the phone to someone who might scam you with Swappa or EBay.

I buy stuff on ebay all the time and if there is any trouble, ebay now is so pro buyer that the seller always has to either refund the amount or replace the item! I really like this as a buyer. I use paypal to pay and bank credit card on top of that just in case. So I have three agents that can help me! The credit cards complaint is instant refund back into my account!

Keep in mind it’s easier to mess up on a dedicated camera if you don’t know what you’re doing. That’s why the iPhone came out better. It does all the work for you. That said the X and 8 Plus have the same cameras.

Regardless of what kind of camera someone uses, it really makes a difference if he or she knows what to do in terms of analyzing the lighting, considering the background, preparing a good composition, etc., etc. before just banging the shutter button and capturing an image. The camera can only do so much....a really good photograph also requires some human thought and preparation behind it.

How much does GameStop give?

Hold on: you guys realise that the iPhone 8’s camera is the exact same as the iPhone X’s?

WHAT? Is this true?

I told the guy at the Apple store I was mainly buying the X and selling my 8 FOR THE BETTER CAMERA AND HE JUST ROLLED WITH IT!!!!! Talked about optical image stabilization or something.

I don’t know anything I couldn’t even set the date and time on the thing it kept going back to 00:00:00 or something like that.

I just want good photos don’t really want to have to figure out how tbh.

IMO taking photos should be trouble and thought free. You get a good moment and you whip out an awesome camera that captures the magic. Should come out perfect with minimal effort and thought.

But that’s just my opinion.

Snaps are thought free.
Taking pictures requires a bit more effort.

But I doubt there is much difference between the iPhone 8 and X when it comes to camera. They both have the same issue. Minuscule tiny sensor. That's what holds them back.

If you want to produce better pictures, return the X (or sell the 8) and use the money to learn about photography.
