I just canceled a sale on Swappa of my iPhone X. Buyer had an Ecuador address and wanted me to send to another U.S. address under a woman's name. Wanted to buy the phone for his "nephew." I canceled and refunded, but he persisted and Swappa initially tried to help him. Then buyer changed the PayPal address which was verified, but under a different person's name. PayPal showed the sender of payment as "unverified sender." Swappa support is usually very helpful. I was thinking of giving the guy some benefit of doubt since he seemed genuine, but they (Swappa) advised that they could not comfortably recommend proceeding with the sale, so I canceled it. Maybe the guy is legit, who knows, but it reeked of scammer to me right from the get go and went with my gut to just cancel it.
Pain in the butt, but not worth the risk. There are slime balls everywhere regardless of eBay, CL, or Swappa. Usually you can spot them but if you do get screwed, you have to just chalk it up as cost of business sometimes.
