Okay so need help.

I took the old hd out cuz I could not do anything with it.

I installed a 1tb ssd and made a bootable high Sierra usb thumb drive. I installed the ssd and the usb stick .. turned the machine on and held option. Started the install from the thumb drive. Got to disk utility and erased the ssd and formatted it. Then continued with the install of high Sierra and when I get to the point to install on a drive it says the ssd this version of macOS can’t be installed on this computer ? Wtf ?

edit

crap it looks like I if I don’t modify to the 5,1 firmware I’m stuck to El Capitan? How do I even get a copy of that? I need to put something on this Mac Pro so I can upgrade the firmware.

Am I screwed ?

Take a look at this link from ifixit. It has the MacPro EFI download link and also the Firmware Update Tool link for you to download. In this web page it outlines everything you need to do in order to update your 4,1 MacPro to a 5,1 MacPro.

Ugh so I got El Capitan installed after many attempts. I have made it to the desktop but every now and then when I reboot I get this.

After I place the original videocard back (HD5770)and of course its working but now I can't connect my 4K screen.

I guess you forgot to translate this in English;)
I think OpenCore may be one of the more complicated procedures to do.

To get your MP working again, i'd install the RX580 again and only 1 known working disk with a Mac OS.
With a wired keyboard connected, keep these 4 keys pressed at the same time immediately after pushing the power button : cmd option p r
Keep the keys pressed until you hear the chime the 4th time and release the keys (this may take a little while).
If all is ok, your MP should boot normally now with all working as before.

BTW: this is not related to the questions/issues in this thread. I suggest to look for a thread with the same problem and ask there ,or if you cant find one , start a new thread.

Thank you Kees,
Yes I use the Chrome browser, I wrote in English and it translate it to Dutch, stupid me.
I'll try today what you suggest, if it is not working I'll start a new thread.

So everything is running well but now I am thinking of switching to a NVME ssd. What card would I need so I can run one ? Also If i am going to have a 580x plus a usb 3.2 card plus the NVME card is that going to cause overheating issues ?

Thanks.
